Hyogo prefectural police on Saturday mobilized 120 officers to search for a 6-year-old girl who has been missing for two days in Kobe.

According to police, the girl, Mirei Ikuta, disappeared while walking home after leaving school in Nagata Ward at around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. TV Asahi reported that she dropped in to see her grandmother who lives nearby and then left to go home.

Police said street surveillance camera footage showed Mirei walking past a convenience store 400 meters from her home at 3:15 p.m., but after that, there has been no trace of her. Her mother contacted police at around 7 p.m. Thursday.

On Saturday, police searched parks and canals without any results.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Nagata police at 078-578-0110.

What a shame! I hope she turns out okay.

One thing I really like about Japan is how parents allow their children even as young as second-grade to walk to school alone. I grew up in a small town and did the same from this first grade. It really made a difference. The way I looked at the world that my neighborhood was my neighborhood. And that people can be trusted.

I hope they find her... anyone have a link to more information that could also be useful? '

Not a lot more info, just that she's 115 cm tall, and was wearing a dress with a pink bodice and blue skirt.

Other reports say that she was last seen at her "grandmother's' house before she vanished... her grandmother's house is real close to her own home. So... I assess the grandmother's house has been checked? I will assume so.

School to grandmother's house, to being picked up by the camera outside the convenience store, and then no trace of her.
