Did it eat her, or just kill her? What did she die of?

I don't think bears actually eat people, they attack until they decide if this is what they want. Terribly sad. That poor women. Made it all the way to 82 only to be attacked by a bear.

Get ready for any bear in a ten mile radius to be blown away by local hunters now.

I feel very sorry for the woman, RIP, I have been on many bear hunt's, If a bear want's to eat something, it hide's it under the ground, then returns several time's later to eat. Except for fish, which a bear eat's right away. Bear's can be very quiet and sneaky. You always hunt the bear from down wind, as they can smell you before you hear or see the bear. I also feel sorry for the bear, bear's are at the top of the food chain. The main reason we hunted the bear was because they were killing live stock,(cattle). We also hunted the wolf for the same reason.

Bears are predators and will eat meat of pretty much any kind. The incidents of bear attacks seems to be going up around the world. The same with some other predators as their territories are being reduced, or there are shortages of water and food. Sometimes they get maimed or slow with age, or even acquire a taste for human flesh and go hunting for humans. Some species are more prone to attack then others.

They do sometimes attack to eat people as others said before... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fatal_bear_attacks_in_North_America

And the woman probably lived great moments in her life, your statement sounds like she had a worthless life...RIP

Moderator. I think it must be Kitakata City and not Kitaka City. Nevertheless, sorry to hear such news. Must be terrible to be mauled by a bear.
