So that's where dragons come from!

Gorgeous picture.
I do feel for the people living within close proximity of the volcano. Getting woken up to this at 3:30 in the morning can't be fun at all.

Amazing photographer. It's not easy to catch lightning in a photo. I've tried.
Bintaro
Damn ! The end is nigh !
Patric Spohn
One of the best cover photos I've seen on here.

Spectacular photo indeed!
There are only two nuclear power plants in Kyushu and are a little over 100k away from this eruption. There is a string of calderas running right through Kyushu. "It's all under control!"

Wow. Incredible picture.

Kudos to KYODO.

A powerful photo. Good one on the photographer.

sf2k, do you mean the green lightening in the foreground, or the lightning in the ashcloud?

Ash cloud. Do you see the 5 shaped little one at the top? You can imagine it back, forward and back. Also the large middle one is curved
it's like it's gurgling with light underneath from all the tips all connected
JonathanJo
Sf2k I'm guessing the downvotes were because of your spelling: lightening instead of lightning. I would agree though it's a most spectacular photo.

Wow... THAT is an amazing shot!

Powerful shot indeed! Man plays with Nature, but sometimes she can bite back.

I drove through the rain not too far from there that afternoon. When I got home (where it was dry), I couldn't believe how dirty my car was. Now I know why!

Damn, that looks like quite a violent eruption. Hopefully it doesn't escalate
Goodlucktoyou
luckily there is no NPP nearby...

Dear's Look like a godzilla Thrill photo amazing volcano all peoples save The god
Toshihiro
Who woke up godzilla? Kidding aside, it seems that the earth has been quite active recently with the recent activity from Mt. Mayon in the Philippines, earthquakes in the western pacific and the the separation of Kenya from the African continent (I can't believe its really happening this quick). I wonder what's up
sf2k
who down votes a photo!?
Daniel Naumoff
Soon, alright?

Spectacular photo! The lightening gives a depth of field that wouldn't otherwise be there.
