And what type of visas are ok?

Well done China, you're doing great!!

I knew they would soon waiver. Anyone with an iota of knowledge of Chinese history would have known too. It's not like they can take the moral high ground with so much more face to lose, considering everybody can see they have screwed the pooch and blindly followed a nothing-plan of zero covid.

Money talks, in this case Mandarin.

Indeed. As pretty much everyone apart from the hard of hearing know, strict lockdowns, quarantines and compulsory mass testing prompted abrupt closures of manufacturing facilities and businesses in major hubs -- like Zhengzhou, home of the world's biggest iPhone factory -- and sent reverberations across the global supply chain. Result; China's 2022 growth seen as its lowest in 40 years

This visa flip-flop, like the flip-flop instigated by the "no-where" protests (lol) show very clearly the desperation of the whole situation even after 3 years to prepare.

The CCP is legitimised at all levels especially on the street by economic progress. A few cheap businesses deals will pacify the masses and prevent anymore "no-where" protests. Something the gov is desperate to avoid. Anyone with an iota of knowledge of Chinese history would known that.

Couldn't give 2 farts and a martini.

Wild horses couldn't drag me to China. I refuse to even transfer there.

@Aly Rustom

... well said. Said well.

Business people? I guess the exceptions are more all those Xi adorers.

Be nice to your Neighbor, China.

Chinese airlines are cheap, but when something goes wrong, the service is absolute garbage. I've had a few bad run-ins, and stopped flying Chinese airlines as a result.

I consider myself a hardened long-haul traveler, nowadays pretty much the only thing I ask is that the plane stays in the air with me having a beer in my hand.

same.

But I arrived at the point where I am actively paying considerable amounts of money not to fly with a Chinese airline to never having to deal with their staff, organisation, airports, and co-travelers ever again in my life.

Absolutely

I cannot believe I'm reading complaints from Japan, the same country that imposed a travel ban for a couple of years and stubbornly refused to open

Quite arbitrary and opportunistic, full of favoritism (but solely for the CCP).

Japan and South Korea needs China and business opportunities from China for their iwb country. Because they know the coming years after Covid, the America will be dire and very difficult. Joe Biden has done nothing but disastrous policies to his own country and other countries. High oil prices shall not coming down and hardships around tge world because of America's egoism. China is set to replace America as world locomotive of economic growth.

I am against any state policy that put ordinary people in difficultiesand inconvenient but the government of Japan and South Korea were very discrimination that caused all of the unhappy things!

You couldn't GIVE me a free trip to china, I wouldn't go.

Now Taiwan, that's a different story. I'll get to the beach there, sooner or later.

You're not really. Most on this forum aren't in Japan, and those who are, are not Japanese.

Why would anybody want to go to China, especially right now?!

China is one of the worlds most fascinating countries and brilliant for businesss. I can’t wait to go back. Was there a week and half ago, but only short visit. If Japanese yen becomes stronger, I’m off again. I will probably come back 2kg heavier.

I used to love visiting China, and did regularly until our company pulled all our business from China in 2016. I wish I could still visit, but the CCP has ruined the country. I don't expect I'll ever be able to go again, which is too bad, as its a beautiful country with great history and culture, and delicious food.

Exact experience from my side on all aspects.

In that regard, the commenters here are comparatively level-minded, noone here is seriously complaining. China has every right in the world to close up if they want to. It's just that China comes across as disingenuous with literally everything related to the pandemic, from their health situation to the reason they give for closing their borders, to (and this is the topic of the article) who it does and doesn't apply to. We are not complaining about them, we are mocking them.

the same country that imposed a travel ban for a couple of years and stubbornly refused to open

Oh boy do I have complaints about that, how many hours do you have?

Hear Hear Roy!!!

Wait didn't the Chinese accuse other countries of discrimination when they cried their citizens were being singled out and not being allowed in other countries because they were carriers. BUT China OKs some visas for Japanese, S Korean citizens as exceptions. I guess that is not that's not discrimination but selective identification!

Who would want to visit China anyway?
