Have looked at movie listings here and have seen a lot of recycled films from years ago. So, relaxing rules on eating won’t get me back paying over a thousand yen, unless it is a new release...

@Kumagjin

Any good movies showing these days?

There is 80s style Porn Cinema in Ueno...probably good movies are shown there...

Fewer infections because of fewer tests being conducted. So if we do no testing then Japan will have no infections.

I'm not sure whats more unhealthy; catching Covid-19 or eating an enormous tub of buttery salty popcorn and washing it down with some kinda sugary soft drink, like Coke. Seems like a risk either way. Any good movies showing these days?

without enough testing there has never been a single day of understanding

New releases is much better to enjoy eating the all famous hotdog, caramel popcorn, churros and large coke.

Continuously sending the idea that everything is fine and that we were the only country in the world that without measures “defeated” the virus.

Most people, not questioning themselves will believe and keep going with their normal lives like pre-covid, just with a mask covering half mouth - yes that’s trend now, in case you haven’t noticed.

I don’t know about you, but I have been hearing about few offices clusters. And every office I enter people are getting more and more laid back regarding safety measures.

Would be good to see government and people reinforcing the idea of not lowering the guard at all now. It is way too early for that - let’s please be patient.

While the number of infections in the country has been on a downward trend since mid-August, an advisory group for the health ministry warned last week that the pace of decline has been slowing recently.

Good job by the gov't and the mouthpiece media for repeatedly emphasizing how the number of infections

have been on a downward trend while never mentioning that testing has reduced thus the lower numbers.

It is like a taboo mentioning the number of test and it has been very successful as the vast majority of the populace belief what they see , hear or read from mainstream media.

Goodlucktoyou, it would be your unlucky day if you were sat near to me. The cinema theatre is not a park.

Went to the theatre recently and an elderly couple drove the place crazy with their loud munching and slurping audible above the soundtrack.

Rent it at home if you want wine and cheese.

No one needs to eat when watching a film. Weird priorities.

I don't go to movies because people eat.

It's so distracting to hear someone munching on popcorn and the noxious odors.

Nope, relaxing the rules is not retrogressive.  Lopok at all the countries that have had far stricter restrictions than (say) Japan or Sweden or some US states.  Many of them experiencing significant increases in infection (although so what?).  The serious consequences/death rate continues to fall however.

Unless you really believe that locking everything down forever is the only way to manage this, then relaxation is the only way forward.

taps head

Can’t start a 2nd wave if you never get out of the 1st one.

Well hopefully it doesn’t lead to more problems later. Let’s see.

Yet @Aly - you whine about the restrictions being placed on the foreign community enabling foreign travel. Which is it?

What I am complaining about is the unfair treatment.

Foreigners that live here should be allowed to leave and come back same as the Japanese since they live here and pay taxes. But when you get on a plane, you wear a mask and if we keep the cinema social distancing rule on the plane-

While movie theaters in Japan have been allowed to sell all their seats since Sept 19, eating is only allowed if audiences are limited to 50 percent of auditorium capacity to prevent infection.

Then we can be safe.

Got it?

No, please don’t. Munching and slurping in the cinema is a dreadful American import.

Agree with you all.

considering the world today is in the midst of a second wave, that would be a very stupid idea

Relaxing the rules of COVID ~ 19 is like going back in time.

I always take a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers when we go to the cinema. Not sure if it’s allowed, but we always have a whole row to ourselves, so no chance of transmission. I think in Japan, the cinema is the most romantic place.

love the discount tickets, free parking.

study relaxing rules on eating in cinemas

If this is the only problem we have here in Japan, then we are completely fine!

Good move, let's get back to normal, but can we please open up the borders without the mandatory 14 day quarantine
