Taliking ... I mean writing.. about sex harrassment, does it only happen to women, like .. from men ? Women do not sex harrass men (or women) ?

I dunno, just asking.

We now now that men seccarrass (here’s a new word to the world) other men, Kevin Spacey said it recently, but I hear nothing from the woman side ? Any stories to denounce anyone ? This is your chance, the Media is grovelling for it..

It amazes me that SHE could come here and talk about harassment when her father is the most famous for it.

"This takes many forms, including harassment, which can never be tolerated," she added.

Yes, it does. Don't you remember this?

"When you're a star, they let you do it," he said. "Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything," Trump added.

That is harassment. Chastise your perv father in public first before you get on this bandwagon, because until you do, nobody who is not a full blown hypocrite will ever take you seriously. It sickens me to have anyone in that family preach anything of morals to anyone. Its like a rapists telling other men not touch women.

The hypocrisy of the republicans astounds me. Let me see, I thought they were the party of family values.....I guess not.

Soon, she's gonna have to choose between her husband and her father. I hear things aren't going so well with that whole dysfunctional family. Lots of blaming and anger issues in the family. Something's got to give.

I wonder how many private business deals she got done in Japan. Like father like daughter. No doubt more business deals and new trademarks when Father gets to China.

Daughter of the world's most infamous sexual predator, she says women shouldn't be harassed. Oy vey. Earth to Ivanka, anyone home?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I think she’s totally qualified

Qualified in what ? Oh, I agree that she is not her p... grabbing father and is entitled to have a different opinion about how to treat lower rank people. But it's hardly the case. Ask the women in the sweat shops manufacturing the clothes and accessories of her brand.

starpunkNov. 4 11:18 pm JSTA nice set of legs do not always come with a pretty heart, or a brain. Ivanka Trump is a phoney, just like her sick-o daddy.

Maybe. But she definitely has a far better grasp of the English language and comes off at least sounding more intelligent than her father.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

She came, she saw, she ... changed outfits a lot ... went sightseeing ... uh, that's about it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

A puppet in a field is better than Ivanka. She have to teach her father first how to behave with a woman. All the Trump family in one bucket.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Before addressing the WAW, Ivanka Trump learn how to dress and to stay by a world leader. she have noright to say about harassing women. she have to say this to her father Donald Trump. He also a man who harassed women past years. women behaviour, their dress make men crazy. ivanka must learn how to dress decently to stand by a nation leder.

Ivanka doesn't look too healthy, all skinny-ed up. Oh well. She sits on her daddy's knee and Donny fondles her. My Sweet Lord, people - she talks about sexual harassment being unacceptable (and it is) yet she is Donny/Daddy's GF and he wants to MARRY her! Also Melania posed for those bondage photos, where is the  'sexual equality' and 'feminism' and 'respect for women' in THAT? Ivanka is a HORRIBLE example for women, America, anything. Her coming to Japan for this shindig is an insulting JOKE.  I'm gonna barf now.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@smithinjapan: given how she supports the abuse of women by her father and is absolutely in no way qualified to be talking about the empowerment of women to even a lip-service champion of it.

I can’t agree with you more. No women closely related to a person that has been accused of sexual assault should be held up as a spokesperson for women rights. I can see only one exception to that rule and that is for a women whose husband happened to be a Leftist and has been accused of sexual harassment, rape, and attempted rape and who helped his Progressive wife become politically relevant. Only a Socialist woman that piggybacks on her husbands success and protects her meal ticket from charges of rape and harassment should be able to speak on behalf of women.

Since Ivanka has not been making excuses for the alleged criminal behavior of her father she should be silenced.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Why is it that the world "assumes" that harassment happens only to women?

What makes you think the world is assuming that? I haven't seen anyone saying that.

Why only harassment of women cannot be tolerated..?

What makes you think that this only applies to women and not men? I haven't seen anyone expressing that harassment of men must be tolerated.

Why must there be "equality" for sexes, when sex itself is by nature biologically "different"..?

We should all have equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome (unless the outcome is equal by coincidence).

Why must men "protect" women and not women men..?

Who is telling you that women must not protect men?

Having thought such thoughts.., what roles do men and women play in life, society and the world that required or prompted Ivanka to say such things..?

Who or what society/ies were she addressing..?

What kind of reaction or action did she want to promote or induce or prompt..?

If anything what she says is just as political and sexist as Hillary and Michelle... tothe US public...

For India and the Muslim worlds it sends a strong message...

But why in Japan..?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

She's just as phoney as her dad!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

While Ivanka is mouthing platitudes we see Japan is right down there on gender equality.

When a man punches his wife in the face, the J cops won't arrest a man for doing so.

After all, assault is not an assault when a man punches 'his woman'

Ive seen the unequal treatment with my own eyes!

Equality in business?

Go into the banks and you won't see a female manager but plenty of females on the service counters.

Then Abe pledges fifty million dollars (not his own surely!) for Ivanka's initiative.

Can we have a referendum on that please?

Abe should first take a look at the dearth of females in his own cabinet and then pass some sex equality laws!!!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Yep, inappropriate all round, wrong speaker, wrong clothes, what a joke!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

who gives a crap what a stuck up silver-spoon-in-mouth snob has to say about anything. Instead of preaching about harassment to others she start by preaching to her own groping father.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

im confused. people here are FOR harassment??

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The old send my “HOT” to distract them so they won’t see me as the terrible piece of crap I really am routine!!

the J- media will be too busy reporting on her fashion, what she said, what she ate , what she look at etc etc etc...

all the while grab’em by the ..... and Abe will be playing golf

Omiai, or arranged marriages are only 30% in Japan, so women have equal rights, right.

Omiai are not “arranged marriages.” They are “arranged meetings.” It is a form of match making. Some cities have "omiai parties" so young people can get to meet each other, sort of like "church socials" in the US.

Omiai don't push anyone into anything. I personally know a woman who went through more than 50 omiai before she found "Mr. Right."

In contemporary Japan omiai are a handy way for people to find a marriage partner without getting involved in something sleazy.

YubaruToday 06:07 am JSTIs she talking to men? She could wear dressy gown to hide her thighs and legs. Abe should warn her Japanese cops are protecting her. Japanese cops don't know how to shoot pistol but they know how to shoot photo of under dress.

Before you even start making comments about how much "thigh" she is showing, Go take a look outside any Japanese HS, you'll see a hell of a lot more than just thigh!

If any of those HS girls were government employees as Special Advisors to the Prime Minister of Japan, then it would not be appropriate.

Abe spend his first day after being reelected at women's conference showed how important for him to be with women. But he really should remember how and when Japan got the name. It was 1500 years ago, Chinese first female emperor Wu who gave the name to Japan. Japan never has women problem since ancient time.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

tell that to your dad

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This is bazaar on many levels.

The message is good; the messenger is suspect, to say the least.

Given so many things, such as Ivanka's thin business credentials, her father's blatant misogynic statements, among other things, makes a talk like this from the U.S. president's daughter do opposite, making a joke of a a very serious topic.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

he didn't even wear freshly pressed trousers

she is a total babe - talk about iron-ies

daddy Trump is here, today is annual DPRK Univ festival

in Tachikawa where I landed after serving VN in 72

1 ( +1 / -0 )

What a joke, sorry Japan, you have been TRUMPED

5 ( +7 / -2 )

She may as well be stroking Abe's ego and asking him if she can get him American tea and some pie, given how she supports the abuse of women

Oh, please! Lol

by her father and is absolutely in no way qualified to be talking about the empowerment of women to even a lip-service champion of it.

I think she’s totally qualified, any haters go and try and take her mic and watch what happens.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

The "rezident's" children would never speak out against him...not being left out of the will is the deciding factor.

she really picked the wrong subject to comment, especially her father is in the category of sexual harassment.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

She usually speak better than her father.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Ivanka Trump: no qualifications, no track record ... um, may we see your resume, please?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Harassment of women can never be tolerated: Ivanka Trump

Well that's rich, coming from a Trump.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I'm being serious when I say Ivanka should have used the example of her father. She could have said "I have torn a strip off my father for his p___y-grabbing comments, his comments about not waiting for consent before kissing, signing a form using a female staff member's back as a desk..." That would have given her comments more credence.

I think some of the haters are jealous. The woman is hot, that's all there is to it, whatever you may think about Trump or not even knowing who he is, a person has to be out of their mind to think otherwise.

That would have had real impact. The daughter of the US president calling out behaviour from the US president and highlighting it as what not to do.

She can do what she want's she's her own person. Haters will just hate.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Today, 66% of working-age women are in (Japan's) workforce,

And, still being paid 15-30% than men to do the same job.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Wow, as the First Lady of the US, she's wearing a short skirt? Uh, no class....she should have worn something much more appropriate. Geez......

Ivanka is the president's daughter; Melania is his wife.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I couldn't care less about the fact that she's wearing a mini-skirt. So what? Shouldn't women be allowed to choose? It's not like Abe - or anyone else - made her wear it!!

But the style she's wearing.... let's just say it doesn't appeal to me, personally.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The crowds listening to their speeches were yuuuuuuge!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBRMtZz3TT0

The irony of this woman's speech - she is complicit by not calling out her father's disgusting actions and attitudes towards women (come on woman, Hollywood is on a roll, now's your chance). And giving this sort of speech in a country which ranks low on gender equality and sexual harassment is part of the culture?!!!

And with that mini-skirt, people aren't going to be thinking about fighting harassment towards women. To be honest, Japan isn't the only one having a love affair with this 'expert'. She's popular with the mainland Chinese. You know, what with the designer labels, hair, Mandarin-singing daughter. The materialistic airhead image is popular in East Asia.

Jeez, two people born with silver spoons in their mouths, thinking they know about the struggles of ordinary people. Yeah, let us eat cake!

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Trump + Abe - Ivanka = Better world for peace.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I still can’t understand why they gave her a platform and allowed her to speak in Japan to begin with. This family is rotten to its core and despicable beyond measure. The sexually depraved Oyajis in power don’t fail to deceive me.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Pretty bad pic and pretty bad pose. Those legs... Oh my God!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Wow, as the First Lady of the US, she's wearing a short skirt? Uh, no class....she should have worn something much more appropriate. Geez......

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Abe said Japan is "determined to hold high the banner of women's empowerment and display strong leadership on this issue.

Abe only wants more women in the work force so that he can double consumer prices and make both the husband and wife work to pay twice as much for their daily necessities -- and pay twice as much to the LDP in taxes!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Yesterdays old/new cabinet. Women total? 2.

Sycophantic article posing as news quote..."Under the initiative, the Japanese government has set a target of having 30% of leadership positions in the country held by women by 2020."

ahh! 2020 again. Ganbatte ne!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Frank Zappa. Brown shoes don't make it.

sounds strangely familiar.

hmm.

"if she were my daughter I'd.."..

"She's my teen-age baby

She turns me on

I'd like to make her do a nasty

On the White House lawn."

prophetic lyrics?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

But yet she's happy to put all that leg out there to entice the lookers.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

My lord what kind of medication is Abe on? He’s flying

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Phony people can’t even speak on reality.

Tokyo, Japan

Almost beyond words, isn't it.

I thought this WAW was something to do with the UN but was quite surprised to find that it's a massive PR event organized by the Japanese Ministry for Foreign Affairs, it's purpose being to glorify Shinzo Abe and the Womenomics part of his Abenomics. Yeah, right.

This is the man whose mother won't let his wife work in her own restaurant. A man whose political party sees women as baby machines for the Emperor and cheap labour, in that order. This whole article is a sick, black joke.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

I was bandleader in Tokyo nightclubs from 1977

Similarly, harassment of men, should also not be allowed.

I wonder if she has ever given the same advice to her father.

Knowing what he's in for tomorrow with "daddy" probably doesn't help ;)

Sexual harassment of women should "never be tolerated"

Here, let me fix that for you.

Sexual harassment should "never be tolerated"

or

Harassment should "never be tolerated"

100% agree with her but would extend it to harrassment to males by female superiors.

The pendulum swings both ways.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Harassment of women can never be tolerated: Ivanka Trump

Unless my Daddy does it. Then its totally fine and the women are liars.

28 ( +31 / -3 )

Wow... a full size Barbie doll!

12 ( +14 / -2 )

You tell the leader of a country that routinely has undertones of sexual harassment in the workplace, as well as a long tradition of grouping women on trains, upskirt pics, toilet cams, and young girls being pursued to work in quad-adult-entertainment environments that harassment of women is never ok. Ha ha.

LOL, coming from her

...grab them by the dog... JT, I'm not really sure, is the usage of pollitically correct here?

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Omiai, or arranged marriages are only 30% in Japan, so women have equal rights, right.

Japan ranked 163rd among 193 countries in representation of women in national parliaments in 2016, falling from 156th among 191 countries

that's last year, what has our dear leader done since?

3 ( +8 / -5 )

I don't think the USA is all that good as child-brides are still legal.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

Sad that a country so admires such a phony! Ivanka, a rich, spoiled Daddy’s girl, is not an entrepreneur by a long shot. Without Daddy’s money she would probably making her so-called fashion items out of a garage somewhere in NJ!
