In August, 7,328 people died, the worst single-month figure of the pandemic.

And in August, the only thing you heard was "Open the Borders!" We want to eat Sushi on the Ginza.

Dont forget to look up death per capita.

Total numbers are irrelevant unless linked to the sizes of the populations.

That's surprising. I honestly would have thought the number would have gone down seeing how schools were out.

Don't forget that if people pay for their own test and then test positive, it does not go into the official count. That ups the number. The 20 million are only the people approved for testing by the hokenjo who tested positive and early in the pandemic, many people who wanted to be tested were refused because they did not have a high enough fever. The real figure is probably much higher.

Myop, its literally on the same chart as the total number of cases. The chart lists the total number of cases for each country, the total number of deaths and the case fatality rate per country all together below

ive had Covid but wonder if I have crowd immunity protection from these new mutated variants? Not vaccinated.

CDC estimates 75% of Americans have had COVID. With Japanese regularly coming into close contact with each other, I’m sure a lot more than 20 million have caught it.

A high percentage of the population. It would be nice to know what went wrong. This place had a grip on this outbreak for awhile.

That's assuming that all have had it only once. I know many people that have had it 2/3/4 times.

No success in Japan with keeping infections down, unlike its neighbor across the sea that has seen the greatest success in the world at keeping infection rates the lowest in the world, unless you want to misinterpret statistics and facts.
