That's surprising. I honestly would have thought the number would have gone down seeing how schools were out.

Don't forget that if people pay for their own test and then test positive, it does not go into the official count. That ups the number. The 20 million are only the people approved for testing by the hokenjo who tested positive and early in the pandemic, many people who wanted to be tested were refused because they did not have a high enough fever. The real figure is probably much higher.

That's assuming that all have had it only once. I know many people that have had it 2/3/4 times.

No success in Japan with keeping infections down, unlike its neighbor across the sea that has seen the greatest success in the world at keeping infection rates the lowest in the world, unless you want to misinterpret statistics and facts.
