Those just residing in Japan don't have to understand why

What's that supposed to mean?

People had mixed feelings on this guy but regardless of what he did or didn't do he did not deserve to die.

14 ( +22 / -8 )

Strange feeling. I didn’t like a lot of his politics and didn’t think much of him as a person but feel sad for the way he went out and the void that he leaves and nervous of how his passing is being used to forward his agenda.

May he Rest In Peace and may his family and friends find consolation.

I can see Abe-san smiling down at us from heaven now. Thank you for the masks and for making us all richer with your wonderful Abenomics.

This assassin has no comprehension what a can of worms possibly a Pandoras Box he has opened.

Sobering thought if we consider what we remember of history. We cannot know how the dominoes will fall. Once upon a time a man shot a Kaiser. Look how that turned out.

Rest in peace forever Prime Minister Abe.

Regardless of our politics, opinions and backgrounds it is a very sad time for Japan.

Sympathies to Mrs Abe and families.

A very sad day for Japan. RIP Abe-san!

Rest In Peace Mr. Abe, Leaders like you are hard to come by these days.

RIP and prayers to his family

Risky business being a Prime Minister, especially one that divided the country as he did, anyway thanks for the masks Abe san. Rip.

Political violence almost invariably has a destabilizing influence on society. Hopefully this will not move other disenfranchised people to lash out at their perceived enemies. Some politicians might actually be happy if they no longer have to rub shoulders with the electorate.

Staff were given the day off, if they wanted to pay respects in the manner fitting.

This assassin has no comprehension what a can of worms possibly a Pandoras Box he has opened.

R.I.P Abe San.

Can the four people who have expressed dislike of my comment,

”May he Rest In Peace and may his family and friends find consolation.”

please explain what they found wrong with it?

Was it hatred of the man? Disgust at an implied belief in an afterlife? Distaste for conventional expressions of sympathy and sorrow?

I am genuinely curious and happy to engage in objective conversation about it.

Whatever your politics, the death of anyone in these circumstances is a tragedy. I think I’d even say the same for, and I hope I never have to, Trump.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Abe san, you loved and protected japan. salute! RIP.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

It’s all so hard to believe.

RIP

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Bye

A wise man can always be found alone, a weak man can always be found in a crowd RIP Abe!

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Mr. Abe with his smile and firm stands was a symbol of Japans maneuvering style on the world stage, you don't get to be the second or the third largest economy by sitting behind your keyboard and taking cheap shots at success.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

RIP Abe. Even if I didn't always agree with your politics, you clearly loved your country, and tried your best to do the best for it, for many years. Respect.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

A Good and decent man, did his best, though you were a great fighter for the people of Japan as a political civil servant, you weren't always successful in your endeavors, but you were a patriot all the way until the end, with profound respect rest in peace.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

I just watched the Super Mario video again with tears in my eyes -- you can't imagine Suga or Kishida doing something like that in a million years.

-6 ( +9 / -15 )

Will his incompetent security guards be prosecuted? Aren't you supposed to take a bullet for your boss? They just ran away!

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Touching to see Abe Shinzo getting a fitting send-off, with arms in the air as Japanese wave a fond farewell.

His legacy as a patriot and as a statesman who worked tirelessly for democracy and freedom in the region is secure. No - he wasn't perfect, but no leader in history has ever been close.

-10 ( +15 / -25 )

This is a tragedy beyond words, for both the family and for Japan.

RIP Abe-san.

[Why so many persons taking photos? Surely it is important to embrace the spiritual aspect of the sad event?]

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Abe's popularity based on conservative and nationalistic ideals, along with his grandfather's militaristic views he shared during WW2 seems forgotten by many. He supported visits to Yasukuni, and he did not have the inkling of care toward the Chinese or the Korean atrocities of the revisionist Japanese history books toward Japan's terror.

Sigh. Forget his grandfather, WW2, Yasukuni, all those BS. He wasn't even born then.

I wanted to go Japan in person to pay respect to Mr Abe, but can't. I hope Japan quickly open to individual tourist fast !! since now the election is over.

-17 ( +8 / -25 )

People don’t work today?

-18 ( +12 / -30 )

Bye bye Abe !

You don't have to know it either.

If you understand it or don't , that will do.
