More giant numbers.

Japan should spend more time coming up with a plan to assist on keeping infection numbers down domestically instead of spending time trying to keep out a relatively small number of international visitors.

Any ideas on what that plan would involve?

Only in Japan that this is still news... Just like China.

When 1/2 of the visitors from a "certain" country show up infected because of inadequate testing in their home country, then perhaps focusing on THOSE entrants is a fine place to start, eh?

Time to move on.

That's a low figure, that many countries (looking at you China) should reflect on. Goes to show what can be achieved.

@faranglaos Go ahead. Nothing is stopping you from not wearing a mask. Nothing is stopping you from traveling (unless you want to go to China from Japan). Nothing is forcing you to get vaccinated. Nothing is forcing you to comment or read articles about Covid. So why are you so consumed with this when it doesn't matter to you at all?

381 deaths, sure many were vaccinated and almost everyone had facemasks and kept social distancing but...

An interesting topic appeared on a variety show yesterday talking about how prolonged use of masks during the pandemic have been encouraging more people to breathe from their mouth rather than their nostrils due to constrictions making it harder to breathe. A dentist who studies the effects of mouth breathing has stated that kids under the age of 12 who are still in development are having issues breathing from their nostrils with masks on, forcing them to breathe from their mouths as a habit. Not only does this lead to bacteria growth and germs, mouth breathing also uses different muscle patterns from nasal breathing creating separation between the lips, causing underdeveloped kids to grow elongated faces. Studies also show that chronic mouth breathing can lead to impaired brain functioning as well as impaired mental development in children, resulting in a lower IQ compared to a controlled group. This is partly because of the amount of oxygen and co2 that enters and leaves the body is at a higher volume than what is typically optimal.

Now I am not telling everyone to take off their masks as much as I cannot wait for the day, but if any of you have children, please do be careful and check to see if they are properly breathing from their nostrils.

Numbers at an all time highs but health care system seems can still keep up, that's why no new measures being implemented except tests for incomings from China.

Let's see what happens if/when newvariant becomes prevalent here.

Anyway I suggest those who have a lot of time in their hands keep track of vaxed and unvaxed posters to keep them occupied, let's just assume those who stopped posting died.

Also would be good if people mention their health condition if got infected and didn't die

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they used to add the vaccine status before when reporting the number of cases?

You can try confirming it by yourself, you probably can do it but I have no idea how long

Fully vaxxed and masked. Passed all PCR tests I've been required to do. Haven't been I'll for over 3 years.

Fully vaxed myself and use masks but it's not really for protecting the wearer.

I also do not really limit psysical contact and interaction except for the elderly and those with questionable health

And yet, the FB crowd says vaccines do not work because they are not 100% effective.

They actually say that?

So they are aware that it protects to some degree but don't get vaxed because it's not 100% effective ?

Sounds like scientific geniuses to me

The last global pandemic 100 years ago lasted 25 months - without warp speed vaccines or masking; yet, here we are in ultra modern Japan (and elsewhere) going on three years still trending in the wrong direction. Heaven help us all...

We can help ourselves also

"Also would be good if people mention their health condition if got infected and didn't die"

I returned a positive rapid antigen test (first time) on Sunday morning after experiencing mild symptoms ( sinus congestion , slightly sore throat and bit of a headache) for three days prior. On Saturday I was low on power and my body ached but I attributed that to going snowboarding, for the first time in four years, on Friday. On Saturday night I awoke with a fever and sore throat but in the morning fever had broken & I felt I was on the mend. At 59 years old I'm firmly in the veteran category , but am generally fit & healthy. I have had 4 doses of the Pfizer vaccination, received back in NZ, last one was in July last year. Apart from a slightly runniny nose and occaisonal cough I have been symptom free for two days now. Ain't gonna die anytime soon as i wanna see some grandchildren :)

@kashikoioyaji

Good to hear that.

I myself got my my fifth yesterday.

Haven't been infected yet, hopefully wouldn't be ever.

Some unvaxed post their experiences also.

We can learn a lot from both sides
