Japan reports 238,654 new coronavirus cases

We can reasonably ascertain that the pandemic is still on and people are sick and dying. Beyond that, I am baffled that anyone should be suffering from COVID at this point.

All I can say is that my wife and I have not had COVID. We mask up wherever we go and frequently wash our hands with alcohol. We keep a safe distance from other people, if we can, and we do not eat or drink out. We do not take public transportation. The car is our only vehicle. We shop regularly and have not caught anything for anybody. And we have had all our shots. This is all we have done. We are in good health but ever worried about the pandemic that is still persists in Japan.

But if those are really the vaccinated ones then they shouldn't worry..

Unless people wearing masks make these people who are against masks more vulnerable to the virus as well

Why is the vaccination status of these people not released?

Up until August or so, it used to be published daily. Now it's kept under wraps.

What's there to hide?

Vaccinations are about 5 months old with no new ones available I guess that is why they have stopped reporting them.

My God @Bronco, You're obsessed with cover ups. Most countries have stopped reporting numbers of infection. Why would Governments be scared of anything. Sure, the vaccines didn't stop transmission but they prevented a lot of serious illness and therefore death.

And mate, of course there are (sadly) more deaths with the this variant as SO many more are infected. Your constant comparisons to December 2020 are totally and utterly irrelevant.

Mortality rate is same as the flu, it just spreads quicker and prob goes straight through or around the sides or nose the those dirty things people wear all day long. Wake up and remove it!

I for one, have been masked since the start of it all, vaxxed up (Rona and flu) and have not been ill once in more than 3 years. Priscilla too.

But the vaccinations don't stop you from getting it/spreading it. Masks certainly don't. I know plenty of unvaccinated people who haven't had it either. And they are not super "healthy" nor all masked up 24/7. I also know loads of people who are vaxxed to the max and who mask up all day and have had "the rona" a few times. Glad Priscilla is doing well.

My goodness, by now surely an extremely large percentage of the japanese population has been infected, surely.

Why even talk about it when IN FACT certain japanese political entities have been openly talking about living with covid.

Caught flu over the holidays and symptoms lasted 3 days whereas omicron's symptoms were done in a day when I got that last February. With that said I had received a coronavirus vaccine 5 months before being infected with omicron so make of that what you will.

I'll make of it that you are generally very unhealthy and don't take proper measures to prevent yourself from getting ill.

The vaccines and masks are clearing working. If there were no masks and vaccines, things would get a lot worse.

And now, down here at least, getting double-punched with influenza too! Numbers have been rising since the end of the year, and now, over 2,000 a day for covid, over the past three days, and warnings out as well for influenza.

Hard to tell which is which, and I know a few folks who had to get double nasal swabs!
