Extremely high numbers

Tokyo is predicted to have 50,000 cases a day next month.

Flying back today, everyone on the plane was wearing a mask.

It's when people gather in groups for dinner and so forth when the infection is spreading most rapidly.

Flying back today, everyone on the plane was wearing a mask.

Because everyone flying to Japan must follow the instructions of Japanese government. Airlines must follow the rules or they cannot fly to Japan.

So people are not wearing a mask because they want to, it is otherwise they will be off the plane.

Guard goes down numbers go up.

or: a new variant shows up, numbers go up.

Except on non-Japanese company owned airlines. Took Thai Airways last month, and several passengers were maskless.

So people are not wearing a mask because they want to, it is otherwise they will be off the plane.

As this was a domestic flight, I would be surprised if anyone who had not been wearing a mask would have been kicked off.

Flew to Okinawa few months ago and some passengers were not wearing masks, and the FA's did nothing.

Have fun :)

Thanks.

Anticipating that there might be some kind of lockdown next month.

Last year, many beaches on Okinawa were actually closed, with gates and so forth put up.

9 people in hospital with severe symptoms in Tokyo?? Hardly very scary or dangerous. Sound like it’s time to open the borders and move on like the rest of the world!….

I don't understand what you Guys are worry about?

Aren't you not vaccinated?

Didn't you get 2, 3 or maybe even 4 shots?

So you supposed to be safe, right?

I mean that is what we all got told day in day out, take the vaccine and you are are safe.

So why does it bother you that the cases increase?

Even there are 500000 cases a day, you have nothing to fear because you are vaccinated, right?

Or is the real reason behind your worry about the increase of the cases, that you do not trust the effectiveness of the vaccine?

Is it because you start to think, that the vaccine does probably not work in the effective way, which we always get told by the so called experts?

So let the people go in groups to eat and drink, let the people walk around without mask, let the people spread the virus...nothing can happen to you because you are vaccinated and safe.

Or not???

Most of the rest of the world. However, some here seem to want to emulate the CCP model of endless lockdowns and restrictions.

It was up to 25000 cases this winter in Tokyo. Still far from that, no need to worry

Hoping for a quick burn so travel advisories don’t change. I want to bring my parents in October!

The rise in numbers does not surprise me at all. You can't kill a virus so we might as well get use to this roller coaster ride.

up 3,459 from last Monday.

And lingering on the horizon, BA.2.75

Even Omi said yesterday the death rate has fallen fromw5% to 0.5% and he supports changing the classification to a lower level.

This is not 2020 or even 2021.

I am not "vaccinated" against COVID, and I stand-by, my own personal reasons for not being vaccinated against this virus.

I was also, supposedly became infected by the virus a while back, but that was a day flu-like symptom experience.

I am not against vaccinations - I am vaccinated against Polio, and I have not contracted Polio - so it must work, right ?

Yet, one has to wonder, people are being vaccinated against COVID and are still contracting COVID. Sure they say, "Well it would have been worse had you not been vaccinated".... but, really, would it have been ? This sort of makes me wonder whether all these vaccinations are really necessary from Polio, through to COVID - some people simply are more resilient to diseases than others... "Natural Selection" as Darwin put it - "survival of the fittest".

Take Malaria as an example... it exists in Japan, not common place, though exists apparently... we have a lot of mosquitos here....

https://idsc.niid.go.jp/iasr/18/213/tpc213.html

And if you look at the US based CDC web page of inoculations they recommend for visitors to Japan ...

https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/japan

(But not... Malaria)

I've been living here (for a couple of Decades) without any of these inoculations.. And I'm still alive... (I think).

Perhaps Pharmaceutical Companies, are propagating a lie in order to maintain their profits ? And being influential with Politicians, we the Public, get a distorted view upon things.

Talk about twisting facts...

Because domestic cases of malaria are extremely rare... read the report you quoted about how people were infected in Japan. Even if 1 case then you could say every disease exits in Japan... but not common place. Should we me vaccinated for every possible disease a vaccine protects from - no, of course not. Is Covid extemely rare... no. Are you at risk in Japan - yes. Just because you claim it is mild for you does not apply to everyone else.

Hopefully now the election is over and people realize the current numbers aren't actually causing greater hospitalizations the Govt will move of borders and become more forceful in NOT requiring masks to be worn outdoors. Lets face it if the masks, vaccinations and perspex screens worked we wouldn't be seeing these increases. The heartening take away though is the cases are showing mild symptoms so unless already severely ill with something else there is nothing to worry about...

0 ( +4 / -4 )

New cases numbers and actual hospitalizations are through the roof .

Hospitalizations 329,765

Change from previous day +28,106

SOE is on the horizon…. We know where these numbers are going ….. time to rethink my the relaxation of border controls! If we could only get the marginalized minority of anti everything clan to join the majority we could get through this wave more effectively! Don’t be scared! Get vaccinated and/or boosted ! It only hurts for a day or two. Mask up when necessary! Follow the 3 C’s! Avoid bars / restaurants! And public transportation! Spend some time with your family!

Steady increase of reproduction number from O.89 on 6/3 to 1.23 on 7/10. More than a month of steady climb.

Don't be careless folks
