Japan on Tuesday reported 47,706 new coronavirus cases, up 30,854 from Monday. Tokyo reported 4,702 new cases, up 2,967 from Monday.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is 14, up three from Monday, health officials said. The nationwide number is 118, up three from Monday.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 38.
