Over one hundred people a day dying of Coronavirus in Japan. Same variant this whole year, and compared to 2020 and 2021, Japan went into this year essentially fully mRNA vaccinated and largely boosted. Some people have gotten as many as five boosters - however Covid has produced more deaths in 2022 than 2020 and 2021 combined.
If higher deaths is due to higher virality, why did the summer omicron wave this year produce so many more deaths than the winter omicron wave? It's the same variant, not to mention Japan had offered even more boosters to people. And it's looking like next winter will produce even more deaths than this year's. I hope I am wrong.
Vaccine doses and boosters have not provided the benefits that were advertised, and has instead amounted to economic catastrophe due to money printing. Hello inflation.
If your only argument in support of this is...
then you are coping and not accepting the consequences of this policy.
Don't get me wrong - I am not anti-vax. I want Shionogi Pharmaceuticals to succeed in their efforts to produce a great domestically produced vaccine.
Pfizer and Moderna have lost all credibility and the Japanese government should stop giving them money, or using their vaccination status as a means of gatekeeping for entry into the country. End the error.

Someone will be along here shortly to explain this to you yet again. And if it doesn't sink in, they will probably try yet again tomorrow, when you show yet again that you can't grasp it. Ad infinitum.

To echo what is said above. And I've had taken down before. This has been the worst year for Japan in terms of covid related deaths by some distance. All while globally cases and deaths are as low as they have ever been. My question to anyone here is why is that?
Fuzzy
In a population that is over 80% vaccinated, the fact that the vaccinated are underrepresented in the dead (49%) is proof the vaccines do protect against death.
Is that the point you wanted to make?

Giant numbers still.
Ten times as high as China.
Time to lock it down in Japan.

The amount of neutralizing antibodies directed against a particular species of coronavirus declines over time after exposure and clearance of the coronavirus or vaccination.Simple explanation so a 5 year old can understand....you get bad coronavirus, and you get sick. Most times, your body has strong defense and you recover. Your defense system has memory but not a great one for bad coronavirus, Timmy. So you can get coronavirus again, Timmy. Same if you got that ouchie needle thing in your arm several times.
Coronaviruses mutate frequently and mutations or recombination events with other species of coronaviruses that confer a selective advantage in a particular environment terms of survival or reproduction are favored. That mutant and the resulting variant rise to high frequency in the population. Sometimes mutations occur in the region of the coronavirus RNA that allows it to escape detection or response by our immune system (even with previous exposure, vaccination, etc) or to exploit inherent mutations that exist in our immune systems which vary among individuals. Prior vaccines may have lower efficacy against newer variants. There are a few promising studies in the works to develop a vaccine that targets more conserved regions of the coronavirus RNA.Simple explanation so a 5 year old can understand: A coronavirus changes and can become a new bad coronavirus that can make us sick again even if we had it before or had ouchie needle thing. It's like virus wants to live inside us and we learn how to fight it, so it has to learn to fight back or be sneaky like a cat burglar, Timmy. Old vaccines aren't so good at fighting new bad coronavirus, but scientists in white lab coats are close to finding better vaccine that coronavirus will finally lose to, Timmy.

Some think if they said it on every post it will happen but there were lockdowns here.

@JonnyG That has been explained many times, also here at JT. So only some very short reminders here. Most other countries had their massive and more deadly waives already in the past, so the most vulnerable are already dead and the immunity level is higher. Now the contrary here, that aggressive virus still finds a lot people who are still not immune , infected before or sufficiently vaccinated etc and on average the many highly aged people have also a higher risk than in almost all other countries where they are younger and more resistant against severe or lethal infection outcomes. Those few hints from me as a reference for your own thoughts and considerations.

opps typo!
Some think if they said it on every post it will happen but there were NO lockdowns here.

the Chinese government lies by default. You can’t seriously compare China to any country using the data they provide themselves.
well, I suppose you could but no one in their right mind would take you seriously…

What winter omicron wave? the same you recognized yesterday was a completely imagined one? why contradict yourself by again claiming it happened when you already said this was false?
No, the argument simply makes it clear you are making baseless assumptions and claiming as a fact something that you have no way of knowing.
No they have not, experts all over the world consider the covid vaccines a huge success and the scientific consensus is to recommend them as a very effective measure against the pandemic. Once again you are claiming something without proving it first, that is not an argument.
Studies including thousands and thousands of people clearly prove this is the case with covid vaccines, hearsay about a much smaller number of people is not an argument that can refute these results.

China is screwed, they either keep up this zero-covid policy indefinitely and cause an uproar, or bend to the will of the protesters and see an explosion in overdue and inevitable cases among their completely immune unexposed population.
Even the latest vaccines have a negligible effect on current strains… I just don’t see how they’re getting out of this one without an eventual tsunami of cases after the rest of the world has adjusted more or less back to normal.

Again does seem odd that the worst year would be now given a milder variant and a successful vaccine rollout. The vaccines have done a spectacular job in the eyes of some, and masks are excellent at stopping spread. Yet I am just not sure then how that is reconciled with the facts - such high case numbers and covid related deaths. Guess we can say it would be far worse etc etc etc. And that we can never prove one way or the other. We can look at places that have not had such bad outcomes and have not had the mitigations and measures in place here and wonder why.

The Japanese broadcast law requires that for any controversial issue, both sides of the argument be presented.
A doctor was on Hokkaido television last Thursday demanding the vaxxines be stopped. He pointed out how Japan has had the highest infection rate in the world while also being the country that has administered the 2nd most doses per 100 people, He says the vaxxine is driving infections due to Antibody Dependent Enhancement and Original Antigenic Sin. Here is the clip.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-3igRpfny4
There is also a graphic showing the higher infection rate in the vaxxed than the unvaxxed. The Hokkaido station was only able to show data up to August because that's when the government stopped tracking vaxxine statistics. The thing they were keeping track of failed to such an extent that it became too time consuming to track.
It's probable to assume that these statistics would reveal even more favourable infection rates for the unvaxxinated at this time given that the science shows negative efficacy occurs after some time elapses post vaxxination.
Sanjinosebleed
Same thing happened in Australia! Once the data stopped following the narrative the reporting style was changed to try and promote the vax! They have basically given up now because any which way they report it more vaxxed are dying or going to hospital than the unvaxxed and that is just those with Covid not those that have adverse side effects or death from the vaccine!
