Great the numbers going down should inspire Japanese to take off the masks without fear

Masks are slowly coming off. I wonder how long JT will continue posting numbers for clicks now...

“ I wonder how long JT will continue posting numbers for clicks now...” Don’t check them and then comment if you don’t like them.

Why some here keep banging the fear/mask narrative? You don’t have any clue. There has been no mask
mandate. People wear masks using their own judgement. Sometimes peer pressure for sure. I am not vaxxed but have never won mask walking outside or jogging. I do wear mask now (not while am jogging) because of kafun… which means this will last until early May. Many probably are having similar issue. We are fine with that. So If you can’t stand masks, don’t wear it but stop whining about others.

I am currently in Kyoto. The only significant group of people who are not wearing masks appear to be mainly. European. Personally I am glad that the vast majority of Japanese are continuing to mask. At this point its a personal choice and I don't see why anyone should be pushing people to not wear masks if they wish to continue doing so.

Looking forward to a time where the danger from the infection is so low that the interest on the number of infections is not enough to justify the daily counts.

It is peer pressure for the vast majority.
My Japanese coworkers were all taking their mask off while overseas, while they have been keeping it here even when if the choice is individual

Maybe masks have role other than preventing virus.

In countries where there is little to no mask use, Covid19 largely disappears from view, as it hardly harms many that catch it anyway.
So until the theatre of masks goes away, making (especially children and elderly) perceive of a constant, lurking threat, making people overly afraid of a fairly harmless virus in the scheme of things, the mask comments will abound.
