Especially as it has been concluded that natural infection provides as much as or more protection from Covid as the vaccines.

At a much higher risk, which is why the vaccines are still recommended for everybody that is still unprotected, and even for those that have been previously infected since it has also been demonstrated it reduce the risk for them.

As the original comment you quoted clearly says, it is not just yet an infection that comes with background level risk. Also as commented before the rates of infections is much lower than the countries that you used as examples to follow.

We do know about half country has now been naturally infected, was some 43% in early Feb, so all these recent infections, approx. 90% of total in last year, should provide some level of protection/immunity/etc.

Excellent point.

Especially as it has been concluded that natural infection provides as much as or more protection from Covid as the vaccines.

Japan though is doing something wrong. It is one of the leaders in the world for Covid infections, while many of its neighbors such as China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and others have a negligible number of new infections.

it has been concluded that natural infection provides as much as or more protection from Covid as the vaccines.

If that’s true, how to explain the many many deaths from Covid of people ‘naturally infected’ before the vaccines came out?

It's common knowledge that those who have been infected acquire immunity that protects against new infections, better than that given by vaccines. This is a basic fact in the field of medicine that is not disputed by medical professionals.

impossible to say anything other than the case counts went up, especially in Tokyo over 20% from prior Sunday, countrywide less than 10% but who knows about the raw testing numbers...probably less but just a guess.

We do know about half country has now been naturally infected, was some 43% in early Feb, so all these recent infections, approx. 90% of total in last year, should provide some level of protection/immunity/etc.

What we also know is per latest/this year published Lancet Excess death and disease studies for those infected, the chance of death for 3 years increases for all categories of infection approx. 5x. So still a low number if your young but NOT low if elderly!

For this reason, likely high double digit increase in death in Japan this year vs. 2022 with SMALLER population.

But hey, it's only "Flu-like", so party like it's 1999!!!!

worldometers is as bunk as the Cochrane report …. Literally junk science and fabrication of data.!.

It's all SAD but true, people need to understand infection creates SERIOUS long-term morbidly and disease risk, this is no joke. Coming from guy who recently told by his Doc. that my health's easily top 1% for my age group.

Health is WEALTH, your #1 investment!
