I know this is anecdotal but let me share what happened to me in order to demonstrate the real number of infections almost certainly being several times what is being recorded.

I first started feeling sick in the mid morning on day 1. Checked my temp and was above 37.5. Was told to go home.

Got worse quickly. By around 2pm I was sick in bed. High fever, headache, chills. Really bad chills.

At 5:30pm, got a Line message from someone I was working with 3 days prior. She said if I'm feeling sick, I should get a test because she was confirmed infected with coronavirus.

Was a rough night but the next morning was slightly improved.

On day 2, I dragged myself down to a nearby hospital. Asked for a PCR test. Was turned away. Dragged myself to another nearby hospital only to be turned away again.

Went back home, found the number to call. After multiple tries, finally got through. Was on hold for 15min before a lady gave me the details of 3 relatively nearby clinics where I could call to make a reservation for test.

Called all 3, all 3 were booked out. And couldn't make a reservation in advance. Just had to try again the next day.

Went to a nearby large drug store to buy a test (I was told I had to take the test for work reasons). Was told they are sold out and they don't know where they aren't sold out.

On Day 3 the company said they have a test they are going to send in the mail.

On day 4, the test arrived but I called the company to say I'm better and they agreed there's no point taking the test now.

And as a side note, my co worker who I almost certainly caught it from is double vaxxed and boosted as opposed to me who has pure blood. She is not old and certainly not overweight but she has been in Covid hell for 5 days.

Free PCR tests outside Akabane station. Always near empty.

she has been in Covid hell for 5 days.

Lucky she got vaxxed! Shame she didn't get no.4. I hope she gets well soon.

@axil

ive heard similar stories. I didn’t bother getting tested when I got it because my partner tested positive and we both had the same symptoms. There was a three hour wait, 35 degrees outside where you have wait and my temperature was 37.8.

the only time I was tested was when I got a snake bite and was in pain with a swollen leg. I told them many times what happened, but they insisted it was Covid until the negative test. They then told me to go home and rest, drink lots of water.

A bit concerning that for the past few days the number of deaths have been 100+ or around 100 on a daily basis. Number of infections crossing 50,000-80,000 daily, bad as it may is not so concerning since people have adapted to live with corona virus. We have to get in with life since we need to work and get money. The Japanese Government won’t give a single yen as financial aid to working people in Japan and instead would throw money in form of donations overseas and also towards the business sector in Japan. Coming back to my original point, the death being so high daily makes one worry indeed!

Similar thing happened to me, including the Line message! But I knew not to even try and get a PCR test or those antigen tests. Could guess the outcome. Just slept it off for 16 hours. Good to go :)

I suspect there are thousands of such cases each day that go undiagnosed or reported here. Which is why the numbers are all a joke at this point.

There is very little point to testing these days unless you’re being hospitalised or just want to know for yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s covid, the flu, or a regular cold. If you’re symptomatic, stay home for a bit and spare the rest of us whatever you’ve got.

@Axel

I understand your situation.

But there are many test stations in Tokyo.

I pass tonight on my way home from work two test stations in Shinagawa.

And both are empty.

Just a few people are there.

I am not sure if you live in Tokyo, but getting tested in Tokyo is really easy.

But Axel, honestly speaking...if you got tested, and you are positive...so what?

There is no special treatment.

The recommendation to recover is the same as if you have influenza.

Go to bed, sleep well and recover.

What I want to tell you is, that the treatment for Covid positive tested people is not different than influenza positiv tested people.

So in case you really can not get tested, it is not a big deal, because positive or not, the treatment is the same as influenza.

And if you are worried to infect other people, it is also the same situation like influenza.

And people also die from influenza...not only from Covid... if that is your concern point.

So don't take it too serious about getting tested for Covid.

Because if you are positiv, there is no special treatment.

The treatment is the same like influenza, sleep well and get your body good rest to recover.

But there are many test stations in Tokyo.

I'm not in Tokyo (or Kanto) but am in a major urban centre. So now it's my turn not believe you. It's inconceivable it would be so hard to get tested here but so easy in Tokyo.

But Axel, honestly speaking...if you got tested, and you are positive...so what?

There is no special treatment.

I wouldn't have even tried but was told I should for work reasons. Though later, it seems the person who told me that was overruled.

Go to bed, sleep well and recover.

When was the last time you "slept well" with a high fever and a headache? You really don't know what you're talking about, do you?

And people also die from influenza...not only from Covid... if that is your concern point.

Thanks for the tip, doc.

The treatment is the same like influenza, sleep well and get your body good rest to recover.

Thanks for that. I missed the point you were trying to make the first and second time you made it in the same message.

Again...it is very easy to get tested in Tokyo.

If I wanted I just could get tested 2x just on my way home from work at the two test stations in Shinagawa.

When was the last time you "slept well" with a high fever and a headache?

After my 3rd vaccine. Because that were exactly the side effects I had from this strange fluid they put into my body.

And additional...what does every Kindergarten kid learn and do understand???

What did our parents taught us when we are kids???

What is the best medicine for our body???

Sleep!!!
