Japan on Sunday reported 89,566 new coronavirus cases, down 20,025 from Saturday. Tokyo reported 10,454 new cases, down 2,867 from Saturday.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo was 20, unchanged from Saturday. The nationwide figure was 353, up 12 from Saturday.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 151.

This is a slight improvement from last Sunday - about 10,000 cases worth. It may go down a little bit more, and I got no complaints about that.
But January and February are going to be really bad. Deaths have already exceeded 50,000, and more than half of those deaths occurred this year, with a less fatal variant. Unless we are comparing Japan to the US, in which large segments of the population have poor health due to drug addiction or obesity, Covid seems to be killing more people here than elsewhere. Despite more boosters and mask wearing. Japanese government needs to stop burning money so at the very least, the economy doesn't go down under as well.
