Japan to buy 10,500 freezers for coronavirus vaccines

The speculation here is amazing.

Foreign news reports about when Japan will start vaccinations is full on rumours and just attempts at covering up their own (those countries) failure to quickly secure enough vaccine.

The USA passed on securing more vaccine this summer, as did the UK, so Japan and the EU jumped on the chance and bought up everything they could.

So now both the USA and the UK will not be able to get anymore once their initial purchased amount is delivered.

So Japan and the EU will get their full order before the USA and UK get anymore from Pfizer.

Now the UK did put far more pre-order of the AstraZeneca vaccine so my guess is they are placing more hope on that being available.

So if Pfizer and Moderns are contracted to supply Japan's full order (as has been reported by USA news outlets) before the USA gets any vaccine needed to vaccine the general population ( the USA only purchased enough for essential services and care homes) then logic is that Japan will start receiving it's supply in early 2021 and seeing they need to be kept in cold storage which is not practical long term, we can expect vaccinations to start in early 2021.

But if the rushed experimental vaccine was found to be ineffective or dangerous, then they would have been stuck with a bunch of useless and expensive freezers.

The vaccine cannot be called rushed because it followed an schedule of testing already validated by other safe and effective vaccines in use today.

In other words, you simply say they are wrong followed by some fancy words from documents big pharma gives you, but which don't really prove anything.

No, they can be easily proved wrong, sometimes by their own references with publicly available information that anybody that has the interest can confirm. Against which their only counter argument is "I can't understand any of this, but I my ignorance is my defense". They are proven wrong precisely because they cannot use valid counter-arguments, their knowledge is superficial and twisted, and they have no real interest in the topic, so they do not invest the few minutes necessary to cure that ignorance.

Every doctor in a country with many cases treats thousands of cases with great success, that is not a feat. And no, Raoult is no longer respected, he has been found to mannipulate and lie in the presentation of the results of studies in order to "prove" a mistaken hypothesis, putting in unnecessary risk the lives of patients around the world. This kind of morally deficient person is the kind that antivaxxers have to use as "heroes" because the real professionals that report truthfully and without manipulation their results contradict the beliefs in conspiracies, so they have to be ignored.

The lack of preparation of antivaxxers becomes more obvious when they run out of their superficial arguments and have to end up with the same non-argument, the world wide conspiracy by every scientist, doctor, nurse and people that understand the value of vaccines. They are all on it, but there is no proof, so even if the antivaxxers continuously repeat the same lies and mistakes you are supposed to believe they are the only ones understanding everything and telling the truth, not the experts.

Anybody reading their comments can easily see there is no need to understand nothing, more like the opposite, understanding completely something is an obstacle because they would not be able to defend properly their mistaken beliefs.

Unsurprisingly, he is attacked by his Big Pharma-sponsored peers, so what!

However, what is obvious is how the pro big pharma side profits. It's not for nothing that they heavily sponsor researchers, MSM, and various agencies, who in return do not hesitate to attack anyone that says something big pharma does not like.

Not really, as you can see even in comments here, they mostly have spotty and mistaken understanding about the whole thing, they are easily proven wrong and many times contradict themselves. To be effective they only need volume and repetition.

And there is no single reason for them to do it, some are just trying to defend some famous figure that is as mistaken as them, other profit from the sale of merchandise that science repeatedly proves is worthless, for other is just a matter of feeling special because they are part of the chosen people that resist against multiple world level conspiracies. At room temperature, the cold is to preserve the vaccine but obviously they do not need to preserve it when it is just about to be used and once inside your body it will be at 37 degrees anyway.

I'm truly not in the know on this topic, so from your comment, I have a couple of questions. What information did they have months ago that would have informed them that they should be procuring these freezers then, rather than now? And were there other considerations at the time as to why they would put off that decision? Do most of the vaccines that were in contention at the time require freezers?

you need buy vaccines, not freezers.

What a hopeless trolling comment. Obviously you need freezers, industrial hospital ones, for the -70 to -80C needed to store that particular vaccine. Other companies won't be as specific so you could always wait for those.

Note this article is just about buying them, so their rollout cannot occur until the the additional delivery infrastructure is already in place. Also Pfizer won't give them to you if they're going to be wasted. They insist that a trial run of a delivery occur as well as any logistics officer in charge. We did ours this week.

Canada had our vaccine approval yesterday. UK, Bahrain, Canada so far. We already have our freezers, and priority rollout begins next week. Priority people of concern first, then general population rollout for April.

You seem to have a lot of experience with antivaxxers, I honestly have very little, never encountered one except online and only here. Would you have an idea of their motivations? I don't mean the ones who got convinced but rather those who are actively lobbying and campaigning against vaccines.

There are prototypes of many types, DNA based vaccines, mRNA packaged in different viruses, vaccines made from proteins, "killed" viruses, weakened viruses, etc. Each have strengths and weakness, so it is very desirable that as many as possible are tested. Unfortunately if the first vaccines are effective and safe that would make much more difficult to test the ones that come later (because everybody would already be vaccinated and volunteers would not get the infection in enough numbers to prove if the vaccine is better or not.

Anyway, either this first vaccines work well or the next ones are better, both are good news, which is why the antivaxxers are so desperately trying to spread lies and misinformation, once again vaccines are proving to be one of the best developments from the medical science and apparently that makes them so frustrated they end up just repeating childish taunts mixed with the lies.

I think you would have a better chance of getting the vaccine by flying back to your home country and getting it there. Japan authorities will be holding meetings on distribution until 2022

If you don't want the mRNA type, you could try to get the chinese one which is an inactivated virus, or perhaps the Astrazeneca virus discovered from chimp poop and extracted from human embryonic cell cultures.

Yeah logistics for this stuff will definitely be a nightmare, going to be extremely hard to maintain those low temps each step of the way, think warehouses, trucks, planes(needing special containers), vessels, then more warehouses, more trucks, to more warehouses, trucks to smaller warehouses again & again. And this stuff is Dangerous Goods due to the large amount of dry ice needed & that will be another limiting factor, how much dry ice can be made all over the world

And the massive investment in all kinds of things to make this all happen will not be needed in theory in say 2years time....

This will not be straight forward or easy & insanely expensive

In general because "naked" RNA breaks down extremely quickly, its half life is measured in minutes. The more you reduce the temperature the slower this process becomes so something that would last 5 minutes at room temperature can las a couple of hours in the fridge, a week in a freezer and a year in a deep-freezer. It is still continuously breaking down, but at a very low speed.

Mostly? because it is impossible, you may be thinking of 0 Kelvin (-273 celcius)

in that case yes, it helps preserving the RNA for longer, but there is no practical reason to do it. If you can keep something for a year at -80oC and it cost you $100 to do it, then there is no point in spending $1000 to store it for 5 years at -200oC (liquid nitrogen level).

Another solution is to package that RNA in a capsule made of proteins that protect it from damage and can keep it intact for long time even in a normal fridge. That is what AstraZeneca did.

Until April 2022 keep those masks on!

Those vaccines contains synthetic messenger RNA which requires cold temperature to stay stable. To prevent any damage, vaccine producers not only make chemical changes to the synthetic mRNA and wrap it in a protective layer (they use lipids), but also store it at low temperatures to trap chemical reactions in slow-motion. At low temperatures, everything happens slowly and the enzymes (ribonucleases basically present everywhere even in a controlled environment of the lab) that break down RNA are going to happen more slowly.
