Two ama pearl divers in their traditional white costumes

Bad writing.. The white costume is absolutely NOT traditional, but was adopted after the puritan US occupied the country, after WWII.. Ama used to dive almost naked, wearing only a thick belt around their hips, where they could attach various tools, and more importantly, a thick rope used to signal someone at the surface to pull them back...

This way of life, including the nakedness allowed them extraordinary mobility under water, and combined with the the cold caused important physiological changes (bigger lungs, very low hearth rate and most importantly, a very uniform layer of thick fat tissue protecting them from the cold)

If you visit a traditional Ama village (Chiba, etc), you can learn a lot about their real life and traditinos.

I hear Melania likes to interact with children. Maybe Akie can take her to her kindergarten.

I quite like this pic, both Akie and Melania smile naturally, no handbags nor dark sunnies. Melania's just a tad more photogenic than Akie, that's all.

Two ama pearl divers in their traditional white costumes, their goggles pulled up on top of their heads and carrying the baskets they would use to collect the pearl oysters, joined them as a store manager explained different types of pearls

I wonder if Abe's Wife feels her husband may be looking for a younger version following Trump's footsteps...

Ah, pure people for the people. Because after all, ALL Americans and Japanese people get to golf in the world's most expensive golf resorts (which are sexist -- at least in Japan, which I'm sure Trump adores) and shop at the most expensive pearl shops.

Her outfit is a bit off.

Mikimoto famously said "I want to put a pearl necklace on every woman".  Just like DT then.

Yeah but she really ought not to wear the hotel bathrobe outside the hotel!! Just sayin!

Do you know sometime you may find natural pearl after you purchase oysters to eat? Don't boil. Take out eating portion. Not often but once in a while. If you live near Inland Sea.

Nice they got out together. Must be freezing weather. Look at what Melania wearing.

@mm: Abe is based from Yamaguchi-Prefecture. It has different culture. Abe's both sides do not flirted for other girls. In the prefecture, they are called they married to politics.
