Reservations at the Tokyo and Osaka MOD sites opened at midnight (7 hours ago) at the below link.

https://www.mod.go.jp/j/approach/defense/saigai/2020/covid/covid_intokyo.html

A vaccination voucher issued by the resident’s municipality is required to make a reservation, and many under the age of 65 have unfortunately not received their voucher. Rather deflating for those who fall into that group.

Masayoshi Son leading the way again for a country that refused to recognize him as one of their own for the first 33 years of his life.

Do you have your voucher from the city office?

I was on Stand-by at my wife's work for vaccination last week. There was some unused vaccine. I turned up and was told: "No voucher, no vaccination. You need to wait! Goodbye".

In my home country, all Japanese in their 50s have been vaccinated, quickly and for free.

In return, Japan just makes me wait.

Including mine.

Besides all the stress and millions of hours overtime during all the years, finally a very very good action from the management of my company.

My resume of overseas business trips is planned for October.

I am very excited to go back to usual business, spend the last days until my pension mostly in airplanes, airplane lounges and nice hotels, including bars, all over the world.

Are you going to be quarantining for 14 days after each trip, or you didn't think that far yet?

Private sector stepping up to do what the government have proven incapable of doing. But I bet in a few months from now the government will be taking credit for it all.

Seems like if you work in education its on the fast track too.

My wife got hers yesterday, I was offered last week, but declined.

May you enjoy those final days to the fullest!

Schools would be nice. I work at a private high school and haven't heard anything.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

The government announced vaccination for everyone but nobody gets the voucher.

Propaganda!

8 ( +11 / -3 )

The vaccines are provided for free and companies arrange for doctors to administer them.

Plus free of charge for freezers, and the subsidy of 2,070 yen per shot is provided.

Kono acknowledged concerns that younger people are not keen to get the shots.

Contrast to my observation that many younger people are eager to get jabs as soon as possible for way-out and frustrated with the slow and complicated process.

Some anti-vax activists have threatened local administrations to stop the rollout to schoolkids. They are radical and exceptional, far from representing the public view.

While this is good, I worry that our brainless city officials will get confused and assume that my company (which I haven't heard anything from yet) will take care of my vaccination.

I hope they can just send me that stupid voucher so I can pounce on any opportunity that comes up instead of making me wait for it like a poodle.

Honestly speaking I am not sure about quarantine rules after being fully vaccinated.

If my company or japan rule will say so, of course I will do. Anyway my company will pay full salary and the hotel during quarantine.

But because I will be fully vaccinated, I guess a quarantine from 14 days is not necessary.

Yes, thank you, I will!

Lets hope that Corona will be history at the end of this year.

Well, I definately envy you that Monty...when you retire can I have your job? :)

Good to see that at least the private sector have their priorities correct. There is no real reason why the government could not be as fast from the beginning except for the obstacles they themselves put. I wish I could hope that this will mean a change for the next time an urgent medical intervention is necessary but it is more likely the things will go back to their usual glacial pace from next year.

What happened to making sure that the elderly and the vulnerable were vaccinated first?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

How many vaccinations will be enough and as people still contract Covid after being vaccinated when will shutdowns end?? The world is flying blindly into the abyss over this. Vaccinate those most at risk and let others who have zero chance of dying from Covid choose and let the world move back to normality.

And here is the key to this: ... planned to be done before the end of September.

So now they have given up before the great all powerful Olympics.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

As I have mentioned earlier, all of the planning and heavy lifting is being done by the local municipal governments, local civil servants, local politicians and the private sector. And, things are going well. Look carefully at who and what is not at the vaccination sites: no LDP politicians, no national bureaucrats (国家公務員), no Komeito, no national diet members, no national agencies. Yet, when the election rolls around and it is time to take credit, the folks in the previous sentence will be the one claiming "We did it. We got the country vaccinated. We beat corona!" I can see Suga and Kono now, "Thanks to us..." A shame, really.

Under 10% of the companies in Japan employ over 20 people, so that should give people an idea of how many others outside these large corporations will not be vaccinated any time soon.

What makes it worse is that it is more likely that these small employers/businesses are also the ones less likely to have telework in place and are more likely to be working in or near a major urban area.

Although this is a good thing, a better system is needed to speed up the vaccination of the general population.

I wish I could hope that this will mean a change for the next time an urgent medical intervention is necessary but it is more likely the things will go back to their usual glacial pace from next year.

The “oceanfront in Arizona” statement of the month. Next year will unlikely be back at its usual glacial pace.

Anybody interested in how Japan treats vaccines would know this is not the first time, nor is likely it will be the last that the Japanese government dragging their feet to approve and distribute vaccines has caused thousands of unnecessary deaths. People thought that the experience of people dying because of an irrational fear to new vaccines would make the government change its ways, COVID proved the contrary.

Can you sue your company for side effects, death and long term health effects?

you definitely can’t sue drug companies.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Ok, so. Where are these “vouchers?”

I still see none.

They wanna hit 1 million shots per day, I say great.

Yet we can’t get shots unless we work for one of these companies? Which I don’t.

Otherwise we have to go to one of these mass vaccination sites, which doesn’t exist in my prefecture.

Or wait for this so called “voucher” which has yet to make an appearance.

the pace of vaccinations in Japan has picked up and may reach Suga's target of 1 million shots per day later this month.

Yeah, still just a lot of talk……..

Still ain't taking it, so feel free to have my shot someone.

I just went to this website and made a booking for the Tokyo site in less than five minutes. This Sunday! Note that you need to have the ticket already in your hand to input the data from it

What about if its the other way around when you account for secondary illnesses?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Still ain't taking it, so feel free to have my shot someone.

That is 100% your choice and right.

But remember that every country has the right to put in place conditions for those non citizens entering, so travel may be very restricted and you or anyone else can jump up and down but that is going to be the situation

2 ( +8 / -6 )

Kono accompanied Son to the vaccination center.

Ouch to Suga. This is such a good PR and Kono took all the glory.

@Ego Sum Lux Mundi

Still ain't taking it, so feel free to have my shot someone.

Don't worry. We'll protect you by taking the vaccine and shielding you from the virus. Next time, don't be this selfish.

Japan's government prioritizes large corporations even vaccination.

There is inequality about "value of the lives" among people in recent Japan clearly.

Congrats! If you don’t mind sharing, what municipality are you in, and would you be above or below 65?

It is not that!

What it is, is that the national government has relatively little control over the healthcare situation, each prefecture, cities and towns have far more control (which is not anything unic as in places like Canada it was the provinces with some getting the vaccine situation right from the start and others fumbling from one disaster to another)

So as we can see from the many comments here the situation regarding Vaccines varies greatly depending on where one lives, my Tokyo ward has performed disastrously, other have already sent out vouchers for under 65.

The city in Fukushima has well over 80% of it's elderly Vaccinated and has started vaccinating young people.

So unable to get the different, prefectures, cities, etc... To move the national government is doing what it can and that is utilise the resources available and if using these companies to get 11 million Vaccinated then good this will also take some pressure of those poorly organised wards, cities towns and leave space for others to get vaccinated.

I am sure 3M is not doing it!

Anyone got the list of companies that are participating?

Asiaman. I’m in Nakano and under 65. As long as you have the tickets you can easily make a reservation. Did it in under five minutes. Just put in the code numbers from the stickers, your birthday, then choose a date and time. On that date, just go to Tokyo station and there is a free shuttle bus that leaves every five minutes that will take you right to the place. The shuttle will take you back as well. The website is all in Japanese, but if you use chrome you can translate into English

Doesn't get any more convenient than that! Other than Kyle's Good Finds, another good reason to live in Nakano!

Only politically connected companies got access to those vaccines. And without those vouchers, we cannot use the mass vaccination sites either. In the end, for most normal people, there is still zero access to the vaccines.

" As long as you have the tickets you can easily make a reservation."

And who is gonna give out the vouchers??? By the time we get the vouchers the mass vaccination site appointments will be all full until they close and there are no other method of access available.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I still feel that the vaccine is not safe. Repercussions??
