The Okinawan prefectural government on Sunday reported 1,533 new coronavirus cases, down 226 from Saturday. A further 429 new cases were reported by the U.S. military in the prefecture.
Okinawa is one of three prefectures, along with Yamaguchi and Hiroshima, which imposed quasi-emergency measures from Sunday through Jan 31, to try and stem the surge in virus cases. Dining establishments are asked to shorten their business hours and not serve alcohol.
In Tokyo, the metropolitan government reported 1,223 new coronavirus cases, down one from Saturday and 1,139 more than last Sunday.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is four, unchanged from Saturday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 90, up one from Saturday.
Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 8,078. After Okinawa and Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Osaka (880), Hiroshima (619), Kanagawa (443), Saitama (401), Aichi (368), Chiba (252), Kyoto (215), Hyogo (202), Yamaguchi (152), Shizuoka (146), Hokkaido (117), Nagano (110), Kagoshima (108), Shiga (92), Gunma (87), Niigata (86) and Ibaraki (75).

Okinawa is reporting over 11.5% infection rate of those tested. So for Okinawa, do the math!

But, but, but...80% of Japan is vaccinated! How can nearly 1/3 of Tokyo not be?

@Good
it’s in the link. Christ!!!justasking
It's actually 27.8% Tokyo cases are unvaccinated. You shouldn't divide with 1,223 because status of 340 is unknown.
Also it's not 20.9% of Tokyo residents are unvaccinated. Children have very low infection rate and shouldn't count in the total. 10.7% is the correct percentage.
Therefore:
Infection rate for unvaccinated is almost three times (2.6x to be precise) than that of vaccinated.

That's only because no doubt they testing the military WAY more than the general populace, especially after recent revaluations regarding testing or lack thereof. Bet if tested general Okinawan population at same rate as for military, the percentages would be close. They have to be.

Japan's bureaucrats and politicians are so relaxed! In the pandemic say it is a quasi-emergency, ask and request the public and businesses to be careful, give some money to their buddies. Job finished. Other countries government staff have a harder time now.

At least the number of cases in Okinawa decrease. I hope for US side the number of new cases decrease too.

Vaccination is not a cure for the outcome, as the antibodies in both naturally recovered and vaccinated only lasts for about 6 months. Overall it just reduces drastic hospitalization. You can still get sick, just at a diminished level. Distancing is still required

Would like to know the rate of testing for the military and related personnel on the bases vs the rest of Okinawa. Me thinks it will be much, much higher. That's the only way you can explain the discrepancy in numbers. Likely applies for the rest of Japan already, too.

DIscrepancy in numbers? Hmmm... military population is 80,000 vs 1.4 million or so for Okinawa.
Never going to get the "tested" number for the military, but the Okinawa information is included.
Percentage wise, the military is a hell of a lot worse than Okinawa.

Went from all to 99% to 95% to 90% now “the vast majority”.
whats that in number form? It’s low enough to necessitate a change from a number to a descriptive term.
Good
But how many were tested?
