I hope she's Ok. Though cases like this rarely end well.

Police conduct another large-scale search for French woman missing since July
First thought...about damn time! Let's get this closed!
Then I read the following;
Large-scale? They sent more cops to look for my lost pit-bull! Let's not over exaggerate here PLEASE! This is far from "large-scale" it's paying lip service to the French embassy to make it look like they are doing something!

Was walking in the same area earlier in the year. The Daiya river treks are easy to get around and back, but if you wander off the beaten track into the woods, or go up into the Oku-Nikko area, it is very easy to lose your sense of direction, and there are many small gullies and ditches you could fall into.
July - person search. October - body search.

Abe is so busy he can meet the family while in Paris to meet the French PM? Then suddenly 90 police, dogs and drones? After 3 months, no food or human contact...if think the time has come to accept the worst.

Abe only cares for the ratings he might get from it.
