Insert Benny Hill music... I need video of them trying to catch this dog for 40 mins!

The large poodle

You mean as opposed to those freakish, miniaturized, "kawaii" poodles?

Very athletic and intelligent breed. No wonder it took 40 minutes to catch it.

40-minute delay, and cancelled takeoffs and landings! Someone in cargo is for the chop.

Cue "Yakkety Sax" ("Benny Hill Show" chase music).

I don't know how this happened. I've flown with my dog out of Haneda and Narita and each time the different airlines told me to use zip ties for the door as well it's normal locking mechanism. Same for the US and Europe.

For the life of me I don't know how a door on the kennel would just open.

cleoToday 06:51 pm JST Poor pup must have been terrified with all the unaccustomed noise, strange place, strange people. I would be very wary about travelling by air with an animal, unless it was absolutely necessary.

I agree with this completely. We left my wife's two dogs behind in Japan two decades ago because she didn't have the heart to put them through the quarantine and transportation process for a 13 hour flight.

Sounds like it was a Standard Poodle, very fine dogs, very intelligent and easy to train. And they don't shed. Hairdressing can cost a bit, though.

Dunno what you think is 'freakish' about miniature/toy poodles. Not my personal choice, but they're still dogs inside.

As for 'kawaii' - all dogs are kawaii, it's in the genes. :-)

this will be used to discriminate against dogs travelling with their owners. japan has 21million dog owners and 19 million children under 14. you can't take dogs on LCC flights so you are forced to pay the most highest flight price. my friend paid a 6000yen one way charge for her dog, but she had to pay 75000yen. if she used a LCC, only 13000 for a human.

6 minute delay is not so long if you have used lots of planes. lucky the poodle wasn't a terrorist, just stressed out being in a cage in a strange environment.

Someone will be in the poo(dle) for letting this happen.

Yeah, fair point. I just can't get my head around miniature/toy dogs. I had Jack Russells, an Irish Setter and a Springer Spaniel. You know, proper dogs.

I'm not really going anywhere with this or making much sense, am I? So, yeah, fair point.
