“Peace and international stability are incompatible with attempts to build upon the fear of mutual destruction or the threat of total annihilation,” he said. “They can be achieved only on the basis of a global ethic of solidarity and cooperation.”

Fair play to ye, Francis.

But he's totally down with Japan being an arms dealer since 2014 under Abe.

Aren't the japanese shinto/buddist? Less than 2% Christian. Something change recently?

Obama called for a world without nuclear weapons when he visited Hiroshima in May 2016. Here it is three and a half years later and all the countries that had nukes still have them. What gives?

Not when it comes to weddings, they aren't. They're Christians then.

Leaders of any colours are always welcome these days.

Need to emphasize diversity.

Maybe he should go to Fukushima, the current Japan hotspot for radiation. They need a miracle to manage the dumping of the radioactive waste water into the Pacific Ocean.

Peace is precious for world building. Union of hearts and minds is the way to peace.

Check the location. Nagasaki has a long Christian history and presence.

Pope Francis:

hey can be achieved only on the basis of a global ethic of solidarity and cooperation

Then work on that ethics first. Fact is we have very different and incompatible ethical systems in the world, and fancy language does not change that.

You only need to take a look at Christmas here in Japan to realize that it's not Religious based, Japan simly Cherry picks for Commercial benefit. Now, what has this to do with the Pope's visit ?

Well... even if Japan isn't a Catholic Country, at least he can still visit unlike in one particular neighbouring Country....!

He has a message common across all peoples - that Nuclear Weapons are a bad thing for the man in the street.

So, Good on Japan!
