Like I said before, parasitic media has blown this out of all proportions!!! We are talking about ONLY 4 million, if it was 4 trillion yen, I would understand. But 4 million????!!!! Most people in Japan have debts of about 50 million for house/mansion + car + education loans. So 4 million is a tiny amount which did not warrant such media coverage, unless media's intention was to throw a wrench in to this relationship and create a crap storm to feed themselves...

Because of this, she can't take public money and now suffering from PTSD. All this reminds me of Diana...

Just let them get married and do what they want. It is their life!

I have no doubt the media feeding frenzy has not helped her mental condition but I do not think the IHA can escape responsibility for effectively imprisoning the family in a cage of rigid protocol to control their every action and thought, they make North Korea look positively liberal!.

Alfie, don’t see the point of your comment? As Korean nobles and families migrated to Japan over millennia, simple arithmetic dictates most Japanese today can trace their ancestry back to Koreans at some point (with the possible exception of the Ainu).

Her parents have a lot to answer for, despite what they have said their lack of support for their daughter has been appalling. Both of the girls are sensible and generally well-balanced but I dislike their parents intensely and the boy is far too much like his father for my liking.

Once she gets married, leaves Japan behind, I think that she will recover quickly. Although you can't choose your family (she will always be stuck to some degree with her ghastly parents) she can detach from them. The best advice I would give to her parants is "Never demonize anybody, because you will come out of it looking the biggest demon of all".

PTSD is about post trauma. I don’t know why her experience is considered trauma, and kinda makes a mockery of what PTSD really is and what PTSD sufferers are going through. It sounds like depression and inability to handle the stress of being a public figure.

I see the fact that Royalty are now being publicly diagnosed with real medical conditions when they have them to be progress. It shows that the present generation of Royals can force even the Household Ministry to call a spade a spade in public, not wrapping it up in useless euphemisms. The fact that Masako-sama's previously serious conditions were given non-medical names or vague-sounding symptoms, for example, probably contributed to her condition actually worsening.

Calling PTSD PTSD is a good start. It shows that this princess IS suffering from something that's not all of her own doing, not some "mood swing", "ill-humour", "lingering ennui" or "retiring conditions" that make it seem as if the woman is at fault for her situation, as well as requiring her to self-correct such "unfortunate attitudes".

Get out of the country, Mako-sama. Get treatment, get better and then get accustomed to your newfound Freedom outside the suffocating fishbowl Japan can often be. (Just don't sign a Netflix contract and seek out Hollywood celebutante status, while simultaneously moaning on about your "lack of privacy"...as some other "former royals" have recently done, pretty please!)

Maybe no bad thing, give them 10 days together of quality time. I believe that the food is quite good in these hotels. The £2250.00 may be a problem sinse she has refused the ¥150,000,000, but maybe they can get a loan.

We are living in a parasitic paradigm and this story is yet another example of that. She's simply desiring to marry the person of her choice and no longer be obligated to play by outdated rules of royalty and yet the media gives her grief for it. Even this JT headline, which gives the impression that her PTSD caused her to make this decision, rather than her making this decision led to the media frenzy that caused the PTSD.

No, Zichi. Surprisingly, Japan has never been on the UK Red List, where hotel quarantines are mandatory. I quarantined at home. Now, if you are double vaccinated and not travelling from a Red List country, you do not need to quarantine. If I go back to Japan, despite being doubled vaccinated, I would have to quarantine in a government detention centre. No, ta.

Your initial post from Oct 1 @zichi 8:44pm was another account of how PTSD is not solely relegated a diagnosis for combat veterans or crime victims. Still can’t’ understand why it was removed when that particular, personal account would educate more people. Best Wishes to all who have experienced PTSD.

If he truly loves her he'll understand. As for all the stress she has from being in the limelight, it ain't like she asked for it. I wish tje both of them all the best. And if they ain't gonna have their wedding in a 'Big Fat Greek' way then that's their biz, it's fine.

I worked too hard to put my two kids through American colleges without borrowing money. For nine years, I was lucky to have one day off a month. "Burned out" is one way to put it; "PTSD" is another. Fortunately, my kids are on their own feet now and I've drastically cut back on my schedule. But for the royals, that's not really possible. They have my sympathy.
