Poor guy; obviously something terrible going on in his mind. I hope he gets help and I thank and praise the Navy for their energetic and tactful way of handling this disappearance. Sounds like a man over-bored!

Glad he was found alive. Off to the MTF and Mental Health Dept. It happens.

See? This is why ships need to have maps, signs, and guide kiosks in every section...like in the mall.

Or maybe he just wanted to not be found? There are nearly 400 people on board that ship and, from experience of being on a naval ship back in the day, there are plenty of places that a person could hide, and not be found, if they didnt want to.

Why don't they "tag" you? He isn't a soldier and it's either plain ignorance, or you're just being rude.

Hiding out in a fan room or something? Later, (behind closed doors), that same commenting Admiral is going to tear him a new a---ole. I see a ''big chicken dinner'' in this guy's future.

[prompted a search by American and Japanese ships of thousands of square miles]

In hind sight, that was a hell of a way to spend tax payers money.

If he is mentally ill (which should of been caught before he was allowed in, unless something traumatic happened after the fact.) I hope he receives help. If just stupid, hopefully courtmartialed.

"He isn't a soldier"

Sailor. Soldier. Same thing. Both are government property.

Could be some kind of stress disorder, could have been the subject of bullying. The facts aren't out there yet.

I know places on submarines, where you hide an not be found.

mmm, sounds suspicious to me; or have I been watching too much NCIS?

His last name mims might be an Asian name.   My guess  is  he  was hiding food storage area avoiding to participate in bombing his home country.

"toshikoToday03:47 am JSTHis last name mims might be an Asian name.  My guess is he was hiding food storage area avoiding to participate in bombing his home country."

The surname Mims was first found in Bedfordshire (Old English: Bedanfordscir), located in Southeast-central England, formerly part of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia, where they held a family seat as Lords of the Manor. The Saxon influence of English history diminished after the Battle of Hastings in 1066

He was found in the engine compartment of the ship. Nice try but no banana.

Read my previous reply about this, it applies to you as well.

your previous reply makes no sense, sailors on a military vehicle are navy, soldiers .

Facts are facts, if you sign up for the military , you need to be chipped and tagged and trackable for the duration.
