Thank you for your creation, Mr. Kaji, and RIP. Too young to go.

I will make a couple of points, though.

"In recent years, Sudoku, believed to be the world’s most popular pencil puzzle"

Mmmmm... I'm going to say that crosswords and words searches are likely more popular, despite being somewhat language-locked, and have been for a long time. But, there's no denying Sudoku is a very popular, very welcome addition to the puzzle world.

And I don't think it was "rediscovered" based on its merits here, though the merits gave it its staying power, without a doubt. I think it was another case of something Japanese achieving success overseas, so it became loved here for that reason. In fact, I remember when it became big here and people boasting with pride, as though they had helped create it (until I pointed out that they had been out for quite some time). Anyway, I will do a sudoku tonight in his honor.

Sudoku is fun and I know a wheelchair bound lady with other problems who just loves sudoku, she enjoys doing it all day long. Another gift to the world from Japan incl. Pac-Man, Pokemon, Godzilla, novels, teriyaki, Transformers, anime, and other delights.

Domo Arigato Mr. Kaji and RIP.
