Tokyo, Kyoto, Okinawa step up anti-virus measures

Just got back from Tokyo. Doesn't look like anybody has heard that there's a pandemic. Restaurants and bars looked pretty crowded late into the evening. The trains and streets were full of people as normal.

Hahahahaha thought for a second there they were ACTUALLY gonna do something. What a joke of a headline and a joke of a government

SAY they will do but do nothing

Recently I noticed the small park in my local area is full of salarymen and women drinking combini-bought beer and chu-hi after 8/9pm. So the bars and pubs closing isn't even sending people home early.

Continuing to do nothing under another name is still doing nothing. There’s no “quasi-nothing”, and so we’ll continue to suffer this virus for quite a while to come.

If I didn’t read this article I would not even have a clue about the intentions to “step up” measures.

Life normal as always, everything, everywhere packed with no social distancing whatsoever.

Too late as always.

Only difference is local neighborhood parks have people there at night and lots of people standing outside convenience stores talking and drinking.

The best anti-virus measure to 'step up' is the vaccine rollout, from its current glacial speed.

So sad to see so many people realistic about their government but still the same burocrats elected.

This country needs a big democratic shake up.

We could talk about taking personal measures to avoid catching viruses. I suppose it would be sensible to skip the rush-hour trains and look at other options. Walking, cycling or taking your own car. Any other ideas?

Just about to get kicked out of a restaurant after being forced to gooble down food at fast rate. Not sure if eating so fast is good for my health. Have no choice, we are in a different prefecture, so gobble or starve.

Had to go into Shinjuku today for a medical appointment after not going any farter east than Tachikawa for over a year. All I can say is it's just as crowded as I remember it and it makes me further doubt the accuracy of Japan's reported numbers.
