Folks, if you can, stay home, if you can't, take care, do what you gotta do, and get home!

The government here is not going to do much to assist, and it's up to each of us to look out for each other, and take common sense actions as a precaution.

This virus will end eventually. I just dont want anyone here becoming a victim!

So now that the virus accelerates, let's all get crammed into those jam-packed trains. Logical, isn't it.

A total lockdown of Tokyo would not be necessary if people practice effective social distancing.

I’ll admit, I was one who went out yesterday, the first time in a couple of days. I’m sorry, but my 1 year old needs fresh fruits and vegetables. Like most Japanese, our storage, fridge and freezer spaces are limited.

While trying to practice social distancing, I found it to be very difficult in certain shops that are way too small to keep any space between me and others who were out and about.

But mostly, I found it quite disrespectful of others who were clearly not making ANY effort. I obviously and clearly waited about 4 escalator steps between me and the person in front of me, just to have the next person position themselves on the VERY NEXT step, not even leaving the regular one step of spacing you would leave before this coronavirus era!

I don't know what Tokyo is waiting for ? I believe this is the right time to lock down the city till things are under control, or we may see another NY on hand if this chance is missed.

We’ll definitely see lower numbers for today given a two-day soft lockdown is all that was needed to blunt the spread of this virus. (Sarcasm.)

The numbers will shoot up again once the people who got on trains today start showing symptoms.

The incompetent leadership here continues to bungle their response to this.

Tokyo should be locked down immediately before this gets out of control ! Land to human space is the worst in Tokyo ( Petri dish ) in comparison to other global cities so the infection rate will increase relatively fast. Also wondering why Japan hasn’t banned the US travelers and just asking them to self quarantine upon arrival. Other countries with much lower infection are banned but seems like the Japanese Government is afraid of the American Government! The US would understand if Japan has to close its borders completely under these circumstances but seems like the Japanese authorities lack courage! The life of Japanese people are being risked by not closing the borders especially to the US which has the exceeded 142,000!!!

I had a medical appointment last weekend. On the train on Saturday, there were people trying to to sit two three seats apart with masks.

What I saw as disrespectful were all the people (6 different men) who were actually coughing and sneezing were the only ones without face masks!

With Japan's archaic "がんばれ！”　thinking, companies here will never allow workers to stay home for two weeks like most other "sane" countries in the world are allowing. Well..at least mine won't.

Have a Japanese mate working in an old persons home in Tokyo and he says there is has been little preparation, nor change in duties, just a general feeling that this thing is coming and ‘Shikata nai’. Problem with a top-down populace that doesn’t bother to take initiative and do a bit of research to what may be coming or what could be done on a personal level. The denial period seems to last longer here, on a range of issues.

Its a cull folks, as simple as that. A political system that has the over 60s and elderly at its very base, but didn’t bother moving fast enough to at least try to mobilize and stop the spread. The whole worlds been turned upside down on the move but here we have the bureaucracy of eyes down, silent, slow, awkward side glancing doom.

I know anger ain’t the right thing now, nor does it have much utility, but it’s hard not to be in amazement at the sleepwalking that’s been allowed to happen until now. Good luck Tokyo.

That's nothing to "admit" to, essential travel means going out for essential things, like food. I hope you and your child are safe.

On another channel I see that they are discussing the impact that single-use plastic bag charges are going to make and how there is too much plastic being tossed into the oceans. One young girl says bring charged for a bag can't be helped. It's the way it is.

But many other countries implemented BANS on these months or even YEARS ago. It's the way it is.

Japan just goes about things in their own way. We have to accept that.

We are not now predicting that the nCoV-2019 outbreak will kill 65 million people. Although our tabletop exercise included a mock novel coronavirus, the inputs we used for modeling the potential impact of that fictional virus are not similar to nCoV-2019.

It's normal to go out and get groceries. And many people just aren't smart or aware enough to keep their distance. The stores should be doing more to keep people apart, or at least clean the shopping baskets, etc.

NY stores have a 10-person limit allowed in their store at any one time.

Tokyo has approximately 14 Million people. 430 have been officially identified as infected over the last few weeks.

If my math is correct 430/14,000,000 is 0.003%.

Somehow the infected Tokyo population of 0.00003. Sorry, it's not very intimidating yet. Perhaps when it reaches 0.05% I can become somewhat worried. As for now, I'm more worried that my math is wrong and that there is still no toilet paper available.

In the meantime, I'm keeping with the gambaru spirit, I will continue to wash my hands frequently, wear a mask in public and avoid crowds as much as possible.
