I don't feel like I am living in a 'pandemic'.
Has anyone actually thought they have been living in a 'pandemic'?
I prefer the old guidelines of what constituted a 'pandemic' - so I guess just feel a bit underwhelmed.

Japan is doing a good job and current recommendations have been effective - its now been a few weeks with a very stable infection rate... flattening the curve is the goal and its looking very flat.
Its important that people continue to get infected at a manageable rate (not so slow as to cause undue economic strain and not so rapidly as to potentially impair effective healthcare) so we can enjoy the end result of herd immunity and a life with omicron as another seasonal virus for which most are naturally resistant and the at-risk take seasonal vaccines.
We are looking for a permanent average ERN of ~1.0 (this will fluctuate to a degree through the year and year-to-year like other seasonal viruses).

These numbers aren't "extremely high", as expressed here almost daily as these numbers are released.
For Tokyo, as one of the largest cities in the world, 1,100 people is statistically insignificant. That's next to nothing.
