Yep, you were predicting 10,000 at one stage - so all is good indeed

Nice deflection.

Almost seems like they want it just to prove a point.

It’s interesting that the people that make claims like this are the ones that clearly care only for themselves.

Low deaths from a virus called Covid.

What have you to say about Japans postmortem testing ?

No need talking about pre-mortem testing has we all know it is lower than

countries like UAE with population less than one-tenth of Japan.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

My problem with the testing is that if you work at a school, for example, and a teacher or a student tests positive, if everyone has been wearing the correct masks, the classrooms are properly ventilated, and nobody spoke when they took their masks off, then the inspectors will declare that the infected person has no close contacts and the school can remain open. The health inspectors test the family members of infected people, but I feel that they don't have the capacity to test large numbers of close contacts.

IIRC, there are around 3700 medical institutions that conduct these tests. They have a capacity of 40,000 tests per day. The Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Public Health has a capacity of 1000 tests per day.

Does anyone know if these numbers include tests and positive cases from the Athletes' Village? My guess is no, because those are probably not done by public health centers. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm quite sure tests from athletes' village aren't included.

Everyone there is tested everyday probably more than once.

If those tests are included the increase in numbers should be quite noticeable

Kevin

Nothing to worry about, worrying causes stress which actually lowers the immune systems ability. Living with a covid is what we have to do whilst taking precautions.

Low testing numbers, which are usually not announced or if they are they are not reported, are leading to low positive case counts. I worry this is giving people a false sense of security. If the public were being tested like the Athletes' Village has been, the numbers would likely be extremely high.

Based on low deaths, no lockdowns, no divided society of mask vs anti mask, no draconian laws, many other things

Low deaths from what ?

We’ve done much better here than most developed countries without any lockdowns or draconian laws

You reached that conclusion based on what or you are just parroting what Kyodo has been dishing to us often ?

If the vaccine suppresses symptoms, like coughing, and so vaccinated people who get it believe they are fine when in fact they are infected and go around and spread it to everyone, like in Israel, why is this a good idea?

If vaccine suppresses symptoms then if everyone is vaccinated everyone will not have symptoms.

Just the general idea, we all know vaccines' efficacy isn't perfect

Go Down !! Go Down !!

Until my resign day , the end of September no rise up the Covid tested positive , anymore !! serious patients are so many you have no matter about that !!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Hopefully the number of deaths start to go down now also

Absolutely not unfortunately !

I hope this is the start.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 31.

Happy the numbers continue to fall.

What's concerning for me personally is that Chiba is still well over 1000 day, now proportionally far worse than Tokyo and not falling at anywhere near the same rate.

Seems that nationally the trend is clearly down though so hopefully tide will turn soon.

All that stress & anger for nothing !

ICU's full to the brim, people left to fend for themselves at home and sometimes die there. Nothing to see here, all is good!

1 ( +9 / -8 )

70% of cases are contracted via family members. Once it gets into the home, Delta is hard to stop.

Big responsibility on schools to keep the kids as uninfected as possible in the new term.

Big fall in active cases by over 10k as a lot more people recovering from the virus.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Numbers falling across the country which is positive to see, although I see all the conspiracy theorists are out to dispute them again. With the vaccination program rolling on at over 130m doses, it was inevitable numbers would fall.

Yes it does because if say, only 3000 tests were conducted, that means about ONE in TWO people contracted the virus. Scary thought no?

Since 1st of August, Tokyo has performed a average daily of 14,000 to 17,500 tests, The number of infected detected was from 3,300 to 4,800. Positivity rate was from 20 to 29 %.

The number of average daily deaths nationwide started from 9 beginning of August to reach now 60. The number is low for sure but it is underestimated.

Regarding other numbers like people in ICU, number of patients still incapacitated after recovering from ICU or moderate symptoms... this is unclear due to the lack of transparency (on incompetence) from Japan.

Agreed, looks falsified (no pun intended, ffs) @KWBO 6:26pm. These recent numbers may be more “smelly” than Kugenuma at sunrise.

Hope and wish it will continue like this, but the next couple of days and weeks will show.

The number will decrease, the peak has been reached and in the next days and week the wave will be over just to let the new one appearing. As Japanese Governement has no plan, this will happen and it will be again the same sad stories. Japanese government does not emphasized on prevention. Stupid and nonsense decisions will be made in the middle of elections. Good luck Japan.

And we are now getting a new week about to start, and numbers to my mind don't seem to be where they should be.

With 1,853 cases today, that brings the total number of cases for the month here in the Tokyo prefecture to 13,021.  That represents 3.65% of all cases this month so far, which is small I admit low, but considering the prefecture's total since the beginning of the pandemic now is 356,595 cases, that still is not the numbers or percentage I would like to see it.

Just saying my bit for what it's worth.

Cheers for now and stay safe
