When the numbers go down, the conspiracy theorists come out the woodwork. When they go up, they disappear

The whole population of Tokyo doesn't need an ICU bed, I don't have one, do you?
That's 62 beds that won't have accident victims, stroke or heart attack sufferers or patients recovering from operations. The number of ICU places is limited, once full, there are no more. So when someones kid gets hit by a car and needs ICU they will have a charade as you put it.

Here comes the conspiracy theorists. Refardless of what is published by the govt , a segment of the community will ALWAYS refuse to believe it. Smgdfh...

Its really, really simple. The number of positive RESULTS TODAY are from tests carried out on THURSDAY.
Some of the testing centers will be closed or working with reduced staff on the holiday and weekend so some of the samples will not have been tested yet. Tomorrow and Monday will also be low number days. Wednesday/ Thursday should be a more reliable number to look at.

Peak is over. Cases will getting lower from next week

You don’t have to dream about that day as that is entirely up to you.
If don’t want to fret or worry, then don’t.
Like the other “many others”

I'm sure we can all agree this is fantastic news.

After so long some people still does not know that the number of severe cases in Tokyo are the number of people under ECMO so it is ICU. Other severe cases not under ECMO but on ICU are not counted. So 62 here are all in ICU. And there are more in ICU because of Covid, probably more than 100.

No need to dream about it, you can do it already nobody forces you to wear one, I rarely do it and it's great.

The article says "severe cases", not ICU. Maybe some of the 62 are in ICU, but certainly not all of them. And certainly even 62 would not make dent in a giant metropolis like this.

It is meaningless news, as "cases" means nothing. The vast majority of Omicron infectees have (like me) no symptoms and no problems.

The Tokyo magic.
Create a criteria that yields the desired results. Unfortunately so many posters here don't understand. Exclude all cases in ICU and you magically get low low numbers of serious cases. Exclude positive cases from private clinics and viola low number of positives. It is so so easy.

Same complaints - copy & paste - for the last 2 years.

Of course. "Cases" simply reflect testing. If you actually tested everyone in the country, the "cases" would be in millions, maybe tens of millions.
Derek Grebe
Fewer than 4,000 tests conducted yesterday.
How do you get three times more positive results than tests?
WilliB
Sixty two (62) out of fifteen plus million (15.000.000+), in other words nothing. What a charade.

See? Artificial peak because of testing capacity limits. We're going to be in this plateau for a long, long time...
