Anecdotally, nobody in my circles - personally or professionally (in Japan) had had it...until a few days ago.

As for me, I am not in the official figures - my own Lateral Flow test kit was used. 39.5 degrees body temperature last night was not fun, nor were the other symptoms.

Take care all. It's still here.

No, herd immunity has been proven to be almost impossible with coronavirus. Just Google it.

What's the official procedure when testing positive? Are you supposed to register your positive test with an authority?

I've just realized that I actually have no idea what I 'should' do if I ever test positive.

PS like the name!

ClippertyClop:

You don't need to report it. None of my acquaintances who tested positive did. Actually don't think there is a way to report a positive self-test.

Funny thing i'd like to have got a free PCR test to confirm if my negative home test was in fact really negstive, but was told I couldn't, since I had a slight temperature and a dry cough.

So I just rested up for a few days. Survived to fight another day.

Appreciated.Seems that there is little to be gained and much lost in doing so for people with initially mild symptoms.

Do you mean that you have to have symptoms that warrant a free PCR test, otherwise you have to pay for one? How much do they cost? I paid about 11,000 yen for one in the UK in the summer. Sorry if I'm a bit behind on all this.

Here in Japan PCR tests are (finally) offered for free by many prefectures now. But where I am living they said I couldn't get one unless my temperature was normal and I didn't have a cough. Weird.

Seems like that when you definitely have the bug they don't want to waste resources on confirming it.

Although I have not seen it mentioned ever I also have the COCOAcontact tracing application installed on my phone. You can also report a positive test result there as well.

Gotcha. Has that app ever been of any use though? I've had it installed for over a year, they used to check it at certain events.

Yeah you can also pay for them by taking at a privately run temporary place (they seem everywhere) but will cost you between 5,000 - 20,000 yen.
