Minor drop in new cases surely because of drastically reduced testing…. But on the bright side…. The 1st drop in net actual hospitalizations in over 6 weeks .!.
Hospitalizations 1,830,230
Change from previous day -91,879
On the bad side , either a new or near record in deaths FROM Covid:( I’m still not quite sure of the jgovs current thought processes…. They basically gave up trying … and the results have been as expected…. Unnecessary deaths…. Explosion of new cases …. Millions sick now …. And the 20% or so who have or will have long Covid …. Just a horrible situation…. Healthcare system has completely collapsed…. Those in need of hospitalization for anything are being turned away …. Keep safe people…. The life you help safe might be yours .!.

The high Covid death rate is very troubling because it is finite. No government counter measures in place is a dereliction of duty.

Height of previous wave severe hospitalisations in Japan were in excess of 1200. The highest daily deaths during that wave was around 300 and as already pointed out by every one on here many times over the 1.8m is ther active cases not hospitalisations.

Design,
No policy changes on reporting have been officially made yet. So the numbers are going down because the numbers of positive cases are going down.

As mentioned above death numbers lag.
Only been around a week since cases have been dropping.
Average deaths seems to have plateued, hope goes down soon

Design-monkey,
Those are active cases not actual hospitalizations.
Serious cases and hospitalizations are way down. Tokyo and Okinawa now below 50%.
Kanagwa now at 75% from 93%

Serious numbers and deaths always lag a couple of weeks behind the numbers which is why they didn't initially go up as much as the numbers. The positive news about this wave is despite the much higher numbers the number of serious cases in Japan didn't hit 50% of what it did the previous wave and the deaths aren't significantly higher than before which is positive in the long run.
