"Stayed away"?

You have been commenting endlessly all along, talking up your "vaccine free status".

And why can't Iwakuni and all the other prefectures that have US Military bases report their numbers?

@ Larr Flint

congrats! As long as you never plan on leaving Japan you are golden.

@Larr Flint

That's fine, but it's not all about you.

Fortunately the silent majority understand this.

They don't act like petulant teenagers.

Not enough test so the court will stay low…nice job from the government

You need to stop with all your common sense statements and basic truths . You’re offensive to a few :) My mom passed away in July , natural causes :( I didn’t attend her funeral in person (California) because of strict re-entry rules . Even for us permanent residents. And here we are again , people around the world are whining about mandates and restrictions but won’t do what’s needed to help. 2 years have been wasted . Particularly here in Japan. I don’t like doing the responsible thing daily , but am willing to sacrifice for the good of others . Keep up the saying things the way they need to be and I appreciate you calling out the naysayers.

PCR tested on Tokyo 1/27: 22,742 people

What if Japan tested daily on the millions, in line with all the 1st world countries?

And before much longer, the peak will have passed.

All this but it’s pretty crowded out for a Sunday night.

Unfortunately I'm one of them.

Did Tokyo do an "overshoot" yet?

Attempting to stop the spread of Omicron is futile.it’s too contagious, we will all get it. The symptoms are mild and severity is less than the flu on average. Also healthy children need not worry. No children under the age of ten in Japan have died in Covid and that includes those with health issues

@Expotential, I don’t live in Tokyo nor in a tiny apartment. I’m up north in Iwaki Fukushima. With my wife, 3 children, 3 dogs and a 2story house. Only been here 12 years, same job those 12 yrs. there’s a lot more adults can be doing besides the basics you mentioned. We cannot move on with life until people stop dying from Covid . Think traffic laws . We have rules to follow . Right ? When people don’t follow the rules , that can be punished. Every year in Japan, we all go get our annual work physicals. Part of that , is a chest X-ray looking for TB. While it’d be extremely rare, if someone had TB, they’d be legally locked down by force if necessary.

Seriously everyone is over the hysteria me the hype.

With omicron the flu looks worse! Get over it and move one and definitely do not vaccinate the kiddies as they have zero chance of serious illness or death from omicon!

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

Reality check!!!

16000 new cases only one extra in serious condition…I think the hysteria is unhelpful and uncalled for!

if they actually did full testing there would no doubt be 10 times as many infections and STILL only one extra person in a serious condition…

open up move on the Novel corona virus is no longer Novel and this in no longer a pandemic!

Only thing l going down in toyokeizai is the reproduction number, hopefully it continues that way and hit 1 in a week or so

I know from the government data regarding Covid deaths by each age group.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

15,895 new cases, 1 person in severe condition.

Treat a runny nose as the plague and this is what happens.

Millions of healthy people stuck at home, a flailing economy and a docile society of mask wearing fools scared of a sore throat.

The higher the number of positives the more apparent the stupidity of it all becomes.

On avg, Omicron IS more deadly per day than all other variants . Some people need to stop with the patently false statements. Japan does NOT report the numbers of deaths from Covid in children of all ages . Not attempting to do our own individual part is a huge part of the problem. We can overcome this 2 year nightmare if adults would start acting like adults and do everything we can to protect everyone. Too much time and energy has been wasted on naysaying. Don’t worry ? It’s way past time for people to start worrying and caring about your neighbors. True lockdowns have shown to be effective. Unfortunately, the laws here don’t allow for a real lockdown. Time to change the law, enact and enforce it . If selfish people and businesses won’t change voluntarily to do the right thing, force them to. I’ll post this everyday… it is NOT okay to think it’s okay that only the elderly and those with other medical conditions are dying from Covid. I still cannot comprehend the utter lack of care many people outright brag about .

Children are important to society, so is things like making them vaccinate for something that hardly effects them as we see being implemented or considered in some places.

The obese aren’t even of much danger from this variant, hardly anybody is except over 80’s or those on their deathbed from another issue.

Steven McCarthy

FFS Fact-check; Omicron is the variant with the mildest symptoms and lowest death rate.

We don’t ALL ago for an annual health check, been here 21 years and never had one.

Deaths of all ages by Covid are recorded and reported by the government

Meanwhile, I have tried to almost not peek in this forum to see how you are all doing. Have stayed away from this for most of the pandemic and kind of regretted for coming here commenting. Whatever your intentions are here, I just hope you and your families/friends/colleagues are safe and we will be out of this sooner rather than later. Happy to have been in Japan this whole time without being discriminated given my vaccine free status and thank God for all the blessings and illness free life I have had so far. Stay safe, folks and be a little bit nicer to each other.

@Fighto.

yeah. Sorry about that.

Save lives, total shut down immediately.

-10 ( +5 / -15 )

The situation is bad. I advise everyone to take their families to the nearest PCR test point and check if they are not infected to prevent spreading the virus.

We are all in this together.
