The goal has always been the same, to balance economic (and social) activities and healthcare capacity.
Basically to maximize economic activity without compromising the health care system.

It's just perception, shaping of which is influenced heavily by the media
Most people now feel they are less likely to die though there are more people dying now daily than ever

Thanks.

That's the highest death count recently, and in a very long while, but sure, let's declare COVID "gone". Rest in peace to the 321 individual souls that have now left us.

Another high?

Covid isn’t just a cold

Whats the point in reporting the numbers anymore, when then government has already given its blessing to not having to report non serious cases? At least before the number indicated the absolute minimum of infections, but now they it doesn't even represent that - they might as well pick a number out of a hat.

The numbers will decrease dramatically once they stop testing so much.

In the coming years, Japan may find itself in line with the rest of developed world. Though I wouldn't hold my breath

Even when we reach 100 cases you will still qualify this number as huge!

Currently at home with Covid right now (I am unvaccinated). To those saying they haven't met anyone unvaccinated who caught the virus, you do now. Personally, my Covid experience has been a sore throat and a slight fever. I also take my health very seriously with daily exercise and clean nutrition. Speaking from experience, if you are not someone who prioritizes your health, considering a Covid shot, however flawed it is, maybe a better option for you. If you are unvaccinated and healthy, expect nothing more than minor cold symptoms.

Tokyo reports 18,423 coronavirus cases
GIANT numbers still.
Okinawa numbers still way high--a good indicator of proportionally what the real numbers of Tokyo are roughly.
No surprise when the central government has no plan other than to let the local governments take over with their no plan approach.

Am in the subway just now… seeing a guy in front of me… and took a while to realize he is without a mask… construction worker looking type of guy.. I am fine with that.
