Tokyo reports 2,025 coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 18,510

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Monday reported 2,025 new coronavirus cases, down 1,292 from Sunday and down 352 from last Monday.

The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is four, up one from Sunday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 96, up four from Sunday.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 18,510. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Hokkaido (1,468), Kanagawa (1,378), Fukuoka (1,240), Osaka (884), Saitama (860), Hiroshima (777), Aichi (704), Okinawa (662), Hyogo (603), Ibaraki (520), Shizuoka (440), Ishikawa (387), Okayama (354), Gifu (326), Kagoshima (298), Fukui (280), Niigata (232), Nara (222), Mie (213), Miyagi (211), Oita (199), Nagano (186) and Fukushima (181).

The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 31.
