Herd immunity likely reached.

So anyone who was posting at that time that they didn't believe the government figures, that the government was hiding the true numbers because of the Olympics, that there wasn't enough testing, that there were likely asymptomatic carriers, that in general the numbers were much much higher were right?
And people posting at that time that because of the government figures, Japan was doing such a great job, and that people who doubted the government numbers did so without proof, the government would not purposely suppress numbers just because of the Olympics, and so on, were wrong?
Or, if the government really was giving the accurate figures they had, then there wasn't enough testing, there was a large number of asymptomatics, and the government was likely hiding the true numbers.

The REAL REAL rate could be even higher. The CDC reported that as of May 2021 nearly half the U.S. population had already been infected. Wouldn't be surprised if Japan's rate is even higher, due to dense population.
Let's hope the combination of prior infections and vaccinations mean the worst is behind us.

That 20,000 ~ 70,000 Yen PCR COVID testing fee is doing wonders in suppressing COVID testing numbers in Japan

Who cares, though? Everyone knows that there are many more infections that reported because asymptomatic people aren't tested. The only factor worth mentioning is the number of hospitalized cases/deaths - and even that is becoming irrelevant as the world is realizing that COVID-19 is an endemic disease much like the flu.

Right... meanwhile the news has come out that the REAL rate of infection was quadruple what the government was reporting in March (you know... leading up to the Olympics) and part of the lack of knowing the actual rate was because of the extreme lag in testing.

Oh lucky number 22 almost every day

Winter Olympics? What does that have to do with Japan? No spectators are allowed to go and athletes will be vaxed and in a bubble. It’s totally irrelevant to us

Waiting to see how things go through February & after the Winter Olympics.

Considering the very low and flat curve, I suspect this might be just false positives.

Great stuff Japan now open the borders and let's party!
The lock down crowd won't be happy until we are all safely locked away in our homes never to leave again!
