Thankfully due to vaccines and mass exposure to the virus itself - the severity of covid19 is now on par with influenza in the general population, but it still remains up to 4 times deadlier among the 60+ and at risk group which is a significant portion of Japan's demographic.

this is not the flue and when you catch Covid there is a chance proven by official medical agencies for long term complications (long Covid) stay safe people plus if you need to go to the ER these days it’s increasingly difficult

Also being vaccinated does not prevent long Covid… I was vaxxed and boosted and still got long covid

I cought Covid last month and guess what it only lasted for 5 days with fever, tiny sore throat, and some coughing but nothing like the real Influenza. I'm one time vaxed and automatically thought covid was a death setence after I tested Positive... For some, it could be for the majority its likely not the case. But how I see this pandemic in Japan is that they will keep it going for profits. If you do end up getting long Covid hope you recover. I might have long covid at this stage but I read that it gets better over time.

As I see, the topic of the posts is about vaccination and its effect. Let me tell you about my experience. Somehow half of my acquaintances are vaccinated and half are not. I'm not vaccinated either. We all got over covid. I was infected by a vaccinated person. This person recovered with a slightly more severe course. Younger than me. That's how it is.

However, how much vaccination helps, based on the daily number of new infections, should be evaluated by each individual.

Lo and behold, it's still at least about a 2:1 ratio of double-vaccinated versus unvaccinated.

Since there are at least four times more vaccinated people than unvaccinated one, having no protection would mean you could see a 4:1 ratio, you just demonstrated being vaccinated reduces the risk in half.

Also your own source clearly says there are reasons why their findings have to be interpreted with care and it is invalid to conclude vaccination predisposes to reinfection

I'm 33, normal weight, and triple vaxxed. I finally got infected with Covid after running away from it for 2 years. Masked up daily, hand wash, hand sanitizing the whole lot. Unfortunately, it took 1 person's cough in my work place for me to catch it despite me wearing a mask at that time and having social distancing in place at my work place. I was feeling very flu-ish a week before my positive test, but I suspected it was just exhaustion and the heat. Day 1 with Covid hit me hard with really bad body pains, chills, fever and chest pain, but I suspect that was due to me having Asthma. By Day 2 the symptoms became like a normal flu I've had before. To be honest, before Covid I struggled to recover from the yearly flu so I expected Covid to get me harder but it wasn't that bad? (Laugh)

Anyway, everyone that I've known has now have had covid once or twice. Everyone has recovered as they are trippled vaxxed. Now, I don't know the effectiveness of the vaccines, but I am glad that my circle of people have recovered fully now. As for Long Covid? I wanted to say that my sinuses have been blocked since recovering from Covid and thats about it, so maybe I am a lucky one? Although, it is kind of annoying to keep having to spray nose spray up my nose during work. (Laugh)

What do you mean by principal threat ?

I mostly look at number of deaths and today's at 307 is the most I've seen so far

Yeah the worst, I was actually very surprised at the number because I only visit the site now once in a while. Last I was here I probably just posted the number , 207 I seem to recall

Japan needs more makeshift care facilities for those suffering from Covid so people are not turned away from critical care.
