The "case" numbers will go through the roof, as Omicron runs through the population. Not that "case" number mean anything, especially for this variant.
Happy Day
@kaimycahl
Fellow Asian countries India, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia- all less healthy, poorer, and with inferior medical resources- have moved on from COVID. It's up to Japan when it wants to move on.

shame about your flight but maybe best you avoided chaos abroad caused by the fear mongering and scare tactics currently happening
Plenty to do here and amazing deals to be had, we found a great rail pass deal and big discounts at decent hotels. I pity those living in my home country U.K. and many other Western nations, they are being totally hoodwinked.

A bit too high, please be careful.

Well said falseflagsteve. Hope the situation won’t get worse. Stay safe and enjoy your holidays!

I agree the media panic machine is in overdrive on this but I also fear the Japanese authorities will totally overreact and shut the borders down at the drop of a hat. I’m a permanent resident and am supposed to return to Canada over the holidays for a fairly urgent family matter. Have no idea what to do.

Safe travels. I myself was supposed to fly out home tonight but cancelled due to omicron restrictions/quarantine imposed on international travel.
I will instead be planning a domestic trip. With these consistently low case numbers and no silly restrictions, Japan may well end up being one of freest and safest countries to live in over the holidays.

The media hype over 1 whole death in the UK is absolutely insane! What is wrong with people? Everything s still pointing towards Omicron being the the Christmas gift the world has been waiting for but much of the media still sees the need to create fear and anxiety…
4 people in hospital in Tokyo?? How is this even news?
falseflagsteve
Good low numbers, let’s all enjoy the end of the year whilst taking sensible precautions of course. I shall be partaking in a 3 day trip with my partner this week. Everything open, no silly restrictions, or draconian measures.
What a wonderful country to be in during these dark times

Omicron has taken the baton from Delta. Get ready for a super vaccine!
