It is done on purpose. The few clear details the government provides the easier it is to mislead the public.

the limited info is being provided by Japantoday. There is a great invention called google where you can get more data concerning the COVID situation in Japan.

Critical thinking seems to always be chalked up to "alarmist outrage" on this board. How many waves have we seen occur thus far? 6? I, like anyone else, want things to go back to normal as soon as possible. But we need to transition gradually, not abruptly. Every time an SOE ends, hoards of people flood the streets with their back-to-normal mentality and cause another wave to occur. I am hopeful that the vaccine will have a major impact with regards to new infections occurring. But, if nothing else, I would like to hope we have at least collectively learned to take our time with reopening.

Please, Government of Japan open the border. Since last year I am waiting to join company as a engineer.

I like your enthusiasm but I think Singapore would be better in my opinion as they are pretty much silicone valley of Asia where most of the high and good paying engineering jobs are. Japan again in my opinion is going to be ups and downs as a foreigner engineer. Just sharing my thoughts

It is done on purpose. The few clear details the government provides the easier it is to mislead the public. Before they were providing the exact number of tests for each city on the government website.

How many tests in Tokyo for the day?

Now a week ago they began giving a 3-day average to make it more difficult to know how many tests each day. The 3-day average including today is 5,609 which means around 1800 tests were completed. That is less than the 2000 + tests a few days ago. Lower the number of tests, and you lower the number of infections as Japan gets closer to the planned ending of the SOE, so they can have elections at the beginning of next month.

Come on, mate! Nobody’s crying here that much anymore. People grew tired of it. Perhaps it’s almost over and ‘positivity’ carried many through? Let’s just continue to be safe, ever vigilant and move on to better days, eh?

@theResident 5:35pm: “Well - the amount of responses today really does go to show the normal suspects that just wished for bad news and the failings of Japan. Sad Individuals.” -*

Thanks godness. My family from china want to visit me for so long. They were saving until pandemic times, and hopefully now I can go to them too soon.

Osaka leading the way for the rebound!!

Kyoto and Hyogo going up too.

The 7-day averages around Kansai just ticked upward week-on-week for the first time since Aug 31.

Reckon this may be the 6th wave in the air.....

It's not "doom and gloom" unfortunately, just common sense:

how is predicting that Japan's sixth wave will be worse than the others common sense? It's actually not common sense because the world has never experienced such phenomena before. It's just the same blathering that you always post trying to sound superior and yet at the same time worried about the common man. Smgdfh

What is the current National vaccination rate?

Please open the borders.

-3 ( +10 / -13 )

Close the borders even more strictly, open more slowly and carefully business inside. That’s how to do it at the current situation and moment.

Sounds to me covid is over time to resume life like it was before the release of this nasty virus

Please, Government of Japan open the border. Since last year I am waiting to join company as a engineer. I am totally frustrated, depressed and exhausted. My degree in vain. After graduating from university I learned Japanese and choose Japan with respect to others country. I have a huge respect for Japanese people but please open border and Japantoday please convey this message. Thank you
