Considering maybe only 10-20% of the infected develop symptoms... then we can all agree testing is ridiculously low here.
Unless we don’t want to locate clusters and break transmission chain.
Then its ok to remain at low testing levels, or even just stop testing altogether.
James
hmm reported numbers are down yet pneumonia numbers remain high...

With tests capped at a max of 8,000, even if there are two more waves we will never know.
Understand that we will never know how many cases - symptomatic or assymptomatic - that are out there.
It has no political benefits thus not happening.

Don’t forget all the ones who are untested, uncounted, but dying lonely, hidden, covered and so on. You just don’t have an imagination of what’s going on unrecognized in rural houses, senior residences, anonymous accommodation in big cities, smaller hospitals, other help facilities, prisons, among homeless and all such. They just die, snapping for air, nobody cares or gives them a PCR testing or expensive hospital treatment. In this regard, all those daily numbers are only the smell of the tip of the iceberg. You can bet on this.

Looks like numbers bottomed out and on the rise again. Next wave about to start. It will be boosted by the SOE being removed and return to Go To Travel as being called for by the government. Perhaps the plan is to hasten herd immunity to cut down on the need for the delayed vaccine

To all those who think Japan is hiding deaths, how many do you think they are hiding and where are they hiding them?
just curious. Accurate sources please. Not I heard it from a “friend” in “government.”

You're comparing one failure to another and suggesting that makes one "the right thing".
New Zealand did the right thing. Every single state in the USA had an extremely poor response. Some were just worse than others.

Finally to all those conspiracy types out there consider these actual facts
The number of deaths in the nation last year decreased by 9,373, or 0.7%, from a year earlier to 1,384,544, down for the first time in 11 years, preliminary health ministry data showed on Monday.
The smaller total may be linked to a sharp fall in seasonal influenza infections as people took strict infection prevention measures, including wearing face masks and washing their hands, amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Do the hustle
Low numbers are less than ten new cases not 275 new cases.
Akula
The low numbers are staying. A good sign, just wish Japan was a bit quicker in getting vaccines rolled out.
Monty
@do the hustle
Low numbers are less than ten new cases
Not in a city with a population of 14.000.000
tooheysnew
Australia's population is 25 million
**and its area is 25 times that of Japan**
Zaphod
....and nobody points out that this is practically nothing, in city of 20 million and a nation of 120 million? How long do we have to accept this unfounded hysteria?
therougou
Why should I bet on people in rural areas dying alone to covid, when I live in a state of emergency area and still don't know of a single person that died from it?
therougou
Considering only those with symptoms are getting tested, a few hundred out of a few thousand tests is not very high.
therougou
You can repeat it all you want, but you are still wrong.
