Y’all have no clue that are down playing this, long Covid is a thing it’s not just you live you die. Many are suffering for months and months, even years. Some now have life altering disabilities. You want to go out without a mask that’s your choice but just know just because your friend was fine does not mean you’ll recover fine. This is nothing to play around with.

Remove your restrictive masks and live with it, just like the rest of the world.

Can't you just live in the rest of the world then?

13 corona virus related deaths out of 126 million people. You know how many different corona viruses there are, right? Remove your restrictive masks and live with it, just like the rest of the world.

Death from Covid is not a “mild symptom!” Japan is fully open …. For now ! Book your flight ! Govt overreach ? Which govt ? The jgov has always been scared to implement proper rules! Seems to me the anti everything clan are the same ones constantly whining about “moving on.” More than likely the ones who’ve been holed up….

3 people in Tokyo and 52 nationwide shows how mild Covid has become. No longer to be feared! Open up and move on enough with the Govt over reach into peoples lives!

Three hospitalized for severe symptoms in Tokyo. THREE. Many more for alcohol poisoning from nomikai and heatstroke. Stop the covid scare madness. No more masks and so-called anti covid measures. Look at Europe - no masks, life back g to normal. The new variants are quite weak and 90%+ of Japan is vaccinated. Wasn’t this the end goal? When will it end, if not now? Enough!!

I finally got it for the first time. My experience was uncomfortable flu symptoms for 3 days. Coughing and fatigue continue. Today is day 5 so I will home test again. I am pretty sure the result will be positive indicating I should continue to isolate and test in a few days.

Good luck with your crowded commuter trains and "no need to test" mentality. You will need it.

What about Omicron 4 & 5? Not hearing anything about it.

The other day I was in a cafe, with my wife, and in the restroom, I could tell there was some form of contamination in the air

Interesting. Was it contamination, or rather some sort of pollution of the air ?

I went to Paris a few weeks ago for business. Not a soul in the city wearing a mask. I reluctantly wore a mask so I could get my negative PCR test to return home to Japan (which they never asked for of course). Despite wearing a mask I still tested positive after returning to Japan. Very mild symptoms. Life moves on.

@Jtsnose LOL did you excuse yourself. Did you notice the contamination before you used the restroom or afterwards. OK!!

I live in an area where there have been comparatively very few cases, where restrictions have been relaxed . . . . The other day I was in a cafe, with my wife, and in the restroom, I could tell there was some form of contamination in the air . . . fortunately, I was wearing my mask . . . .

So I wear a mask. Unfortunately, the world is tired of masks, which puts me at risk.

The mask of others is not the issue.

The issue is for the ones having a low immunity is to avoid risky situations and protect themselves.

If this govt decides to close swimming pools again for the 3rd straight year in a heat wave,

on account of "high" numbers for a virus that has 3 people in the hospital in a city of millions,

they're are going to be some irate people in this place.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

No reason to test especially when they still use the PCR test. You don’t need to test people. Ridiculous!

Unfortunately, many people don't care about people like me and see me as an inconvenience. That has been one of the toughest parts of the pandemic.

Unfortunately, many people don't care, period.

Here's an analogy.

But at the end of the day, it’s only rain. Most people will simply dry off and get on with life soon enough.

I know loads of people back home that have caught omi chan and zero died, zero hospitalized, all sick for a 2-3 days with mild symptons and they’re mostly in their 50s onwards. Take your mask off and enjoy life

How many of the loads of people were immunocompromised?

I have many friends overseas who have caught omicron. All vaccinated, all just out for a few days. But none with pre-existing conditions.

Myself, I have a poor immune system that is bad at fighting viruses. I've been sick for a long time. I'm terrified of covid, not because of just covid, but I don't want it to weaken my immune system and have shingles come back. I had shingles for 10 months in one of the most painful parts of the body.

So I wear a mask. Unfortunately, the world is tired of masks, which puts me at risk. But fortunately, Japan is still masking which makes it safer for me. Unfortunately, many people don't care about people like me and see me as an inconvenience. That has been one of the toughest parts of the pandemic.

This happened in every country that loosened/dropped masking recommendations.

Here's an analogy.

You're driving a convertible with the top down through the rain. The rain is coronavirus. The window is a mask. Of course if you're going to get rained on the same if you're moving or stationary. But the front window is protecting your face to a degree that it reduces the load of rain (viral road) that would have hit your face if the window (mask) wasn't there.

Based on the history of limited testing here I am sure we are way beyond that.

I agree.

However, I certainly won't be getting tested again. Waste of time (& money).

100,000 cases would still be nothing to worry about.

10 ( +18 / -8 )

I certainly hope BA4 : BA5 aren’t any worse than the earlier omicron variants. Omicron killed more people in Japan the 1st 3 months of the year than the next top 3 months combined. How anyone can remotely suggest that omicron is mild , some flu , or like a cold is just ludicrous….

-14 ( +6 / -20 )

Seems like BA.4 / BA.5 having a go in Japan now. Thankfully although highly infectious, the experience of other countries suggest severity is no worse than earlier omicron variants.

It's amazing how the cases keep on going up and nothing is being done to encourage "stay home save lives" propaganda. Economy needs to be revamped and Covid will never disappear in our lifetime. Move on!

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

As people get out and about in the summer heat, and the government continues to relax restrictions the numbers are going to keep going up.

I will say one thing, (gladly) at least we arent in China!
