Tokyo reports 317 new coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 1,002

Antiquesaving: The policy in Japan hasn't changed in almost 18 months in regard to this subject now. Yet, everyday you feel compelled to write an essay on a subject we are all aware of. We all know the numbers are total rubbish. Let's concentrate on getting shots in arms. Money better spent there.

Lol now people are saying no one said cover up or concealing cases.

The words or phrases that you people usually use are manipulating numbers and cases.

Or nobody said those also?

Got my shot today. In the Netherlands, and perhaps other countries, it was decided that you only require 1 shot if you have had a corona infection. No real sideeffects, my arm just feels like I went to the gym for 5 hours.

No one ever said the government is concealing cases.

What has been said was very clear and straight forward.

By not testing or having autopsies like other developed countries the actual number of cases are not known the actual number of deaths are not know.

The number of pneumonia deaths not related to influenza and having no known cause was the highest last year.

They know this because nearly every clinic, hospital, doctor's office can test for influenza.

So why the high number of "unknown cause" pneumonia deaths in 2020?

Cover up and avoiding the issue or ignoring are different things but the results are the same.

Tokyo 13.9 million people

Less than 1,250 tests on Sunday

Osaka 2.6 million people

Over 11,000 tested on Sunday.

Has anybody said there is a cover up ? I have never read one.

I don't think anyone thinks there is a cover up, the conditions and

criteria are set such that the results end up being a set or acceptable number.

Mass testing was and is the norm everywhere, here we were told it is a waste

of resources testing everybody who wants a test but surprisingly with the olympics

and foreigners coming into the country in large numbers testing all of a sudden is no

longer a waste of resources and will be administered daily to the visiting aliens.

Out and about on the streets here in Osaka the concern for Covid is now minimal. Most of the related talk is about whether the vaccines are safe or not.

Have you submitted your findings to a journal yet?

So wait Osaka is testing over 8,000 a day with a smaller population.did 15,000 on Sunday had a high of over 16,000 on the 25th

While Tokyo is testing 1,250 on Sunday and its high was barely past 11,000 on the 21 and hasn't gone over 16,000 since January.

Oh and the last several times Tokyo numbers went up the rest of the country followed not long after especially once a holiday travel situation came along.

That positivity rate seems low since it isn't a random Covid test. These are tests that are done to mainly people with symptoms. So you are saying the general population is likely a LOT less than 0.5%? It is good news either way.

Please state some facts in order to back up claims that deny things have turned in a positive direction. The public facts and numbers tell us this: fewer deaths, fewer seriously ill, lower hospital occupancy rate, falling number of people presenting with symptoms, falling number of cases in most prefectures. The 40M vaccine doses administered over the past 2 months is helping immensely combined with the strange X-Factor Japan seems to have had since the beginning of the pandemic.

We keep hearing about no proof of cover-up, conspiracy, etc... By the government.

Let's all be reminded about past health cover ups in Japan.

Minamata disease, the HIV infections of Hemophiliacs.

Both continued with government actively playing down the true situation until they could no long denied reality and facts.

In the meantime more people got sick and more people died and to this day we still do not know the full count or extent of the damages.

So it is not like the Japanese government doesn't have a track record of downplaying these situations.

That is a very high number considering that the total number of tests conducted was just under 1,250 ( Tokyo stop covid 19 website)

So over 25% of those tested were positive!

Last week it was 236 out of 2,100 tests.

So even cutting testing they still couldn't bring down the numbers.

But like last month and the month before we have the constant " we got covid best" " we are turning the corner" repeated like some sad version of Trump.

Monty: I too am little wary of the immediate side effects, But long term the benefit will certainly outweigh the risk, and it gives me cautious optimism that I can travel without quarantine at least to some countries a few months from now and more importantly get back to normal life here.

It was 236 last Monday.

I am also a little bit nervous about the side effects.

On the first shot, you usually only get some arm muscles pain.

It's more on the second shot where you can have fever and be tired.

A “*Slight concern” *@ffs 5:08pm, in times like these, is ‘more practical & realistic’ than having the previously expressed “no concerns”.

Realistically, it will still be some more time before we will ever know if Japan’s extremely late vaccination rollout will, in fact, have an effect on protecting “those most vulnerable”.

It's Monday. It isn't a drop - numbers are always low on Monday.

With much more cases and deaths in my country, the lockdown was removed.

It means the real figures are 10 fold if you wish to compare with standard western countries.

Weekend numbers so low, but more encouraging is the very low numbers in other parts of the country.

Waiting on the updated vaccination numbers, I'd say we'd be over 40 million doses now.

This is good news if those numbers are accurate.

However, to borrow a phrase I see online a lot, that “if” is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Low number of cases, low number of testing, high positivity rate.

No improvement over the last two weeks.

Low case numbers, great news. Slight concern for higher severe cases in Tokyo, but nationwide they continue to fall. I expect to see more slight ups and downs whilst we continue the downward trajectory. the vaccine rollout is now helping to protect a large amount of the most vulnerable .

And now what? Anybody else on the planet has been , is or will be in control instead, @snowymountainhell? The will to control that pandemic was completely thrown away one and a half year ago, when there was still a very big chance.

So many people across all of Japan have suffered so many hardships over the last 18 months. Perhaps government can finally come to understand the erratically oscillating numbers are more indications they have never been in control and their idleness has created more hardships rather that the promised recovery they’ve pledged for too long?
