Japan does not trace the route of infection, and not all citizens can be tested for free.
This number is a test number conducted by the government.
Looking at the number of PCR tests, before that, 160,000 to 170,000 tests were required per day.
However, since around September 10, the number of tests per day has been reduced by about 10,000, and the next week, the number continues to be reduced by about 10,000 again.
But now, about 50,000 tests a day (weekends: about 20,000 tests) are being conducted.
How can the number of tests that are performed naturally and not artificially be reduced from 10,000 tests per day to a uniform decrease over the course of a week?
Could it have happened that the number of people suspected of being infected with Covid-19 continued to decline by 10,000 a day every week? Is it the same number every time?
Even many experts in Japan do not have a clear answer to this phenomenon.

It’s a miracle that the infected are so low just before the elections.
But we’ll never know how much they really test here.

@klausdorth Referencing "my area" constantly without specifying where exactly that is, is honestly pretty useless commentary in a public forum.

In “my area” Covid is practically non-existent so it’s safe. Hope things improve in your ‘area”

Im hearing the UK will stop recording this most useless, fear-mongering stat sometime in the next few months.
The only people it serves any purpose for are the lockdown fetishists who are scared of their own shadow.
Japan would be wise to do the same.
