Wow a whole 5 in intensive care not doubt over 80 years old and with underlying conditions…

But l am sure the fear mongers and pharma shills will paint an end of the world scenario…

when in reality, it is looking really like this is the beginning of the end of this COVID madness!

Dont count on that. Politicians love the expanded powers, media love the narrative, and pharma loves the profits. It looks like the fearmongering will continue, even if hospitalzations go to zero.

No coronavirus-related deaths were reported.

The turn-back is here.

More than double the amount compared with last Sunday!

Once again those in their 20's have the highest numbers.

Didn't someone say before if you exercise, if you are not obese, if you have no other underlying conditions you don't have to worry? Doesn't look like it!

There are 5 people in Tokyo with serious symptoms that are hospitalized. So yes, everything 'someone said' is correct.

Maybe they should reduce the number of people who can attend a drinking party together from 4 to 3, just to be safe, and also pretty please ask restaurants to close at 7:50 instead of 8:00. Maybe that will make the virus happy and stay away? As it is the virus is so rude... it reminds me of when we went out of our way as a society and put the smoking area of a restaurant to the right, and the non-smoking to the left, and the stupid smoke just flowed from the right to the left anyway, regardless of how hard we had worked to ask people to partition themselves. Sigh.

Anyway, this is Sunday's number. Going to be a looooong week.

get vaccinated as soon as you can, taking covid is not only risky, we don't know what damage it will do to the body in 5-10-15 years. it's a virus like take will attach itself to your body with no more symptoms. until when ... stay safe

You just wait Tuesday to Saturday the numbers are going to jump way up and lock down around the corner.

Posts of a positive nature get the down votes and posts of a negative nature get the up votes.

shows the state of mind of most of the posters here

The world is ending!!!

I am so scared and can’t function anymore because of this virus. All I think about everyday is the Corona and vaccines.

Lord have mercy!

I want to say relax and have a beer

You may wish for a lockdown, Ashley, but it ain't happening.

Case numbers will be capped, because the majority of the people who catch Omicron will experience no/mild symptoms and therefore not bother to be tested. After several weeks or a month or so of numbers capped at around 10,000 cases a day in Tokyo, and some meaningless quasi-measures, numbers will drop once again as is happening in other parts of the world, and the world will falsely marvel at the miracle of Japan.

Japanese people just can’t endure not gathering together for this annual spectacle.

Why would they have to endure not gathering there? I went to two gatherings last year and a few months later to three BBQ parties with more than 50 people.

Nobody can legally require you from staying away from such events or hold one of your own. The only thing the government can do is asking to comply - And my answer to that is simply: No.

Same goes for self-imposed lockdowns. While quite a few readers on this forum were staying at home (cause they choose to do so), I have enjoyed drinking with friends at the beach, in bars, ...

Will there ever be life without my faithful white disposable mask?“

Masks are now in multiple colors and designs.

get a life! You are not dying because of wearing a mask when you should… my maskless time is a lot more than masked

You don’t have to worry if you’re young, they said.

it is simple, why so much panic about it

Now I got the differences between American, European and Japanese people and media

It is not going to be over anytime soon. New variants are on the way! Also, the crosswalk shown in the picture is at the north exit of Shinjuku Station.

I agree.

worry about getting a cold/flu like sickness with an incredibly low risk of being in ICU, you mean? Is that what really keeps you awake at night? Really?

Well, with only 5 admitted to hospital and zero deaths, it still seems like we don’t have to worry to me…

Hopefully but most likely not “over by Easter” (Sun. Apr 17) because . . .

. . . ‘peak’ cherry blossom viewing in Japan predicted for Mar 23 - May 8, 2022. Japanese people just can’t endure not gathering together for this annual spectacle.

This copy paste spam seems to appear in all these threads about the infection numbers. As if in a society, care must not be paid to those with such comorbidities. Many of which are a result of not low amounts of self-control and personal fortitude but put in place by the mechanisms of a commercial oriented society.

I would rather the tax money spent going to the vulnerable than to the all too often case of corporate fat cats and hereditary politicos.

It will all be over in about 6 weeks.

But for a few even much earlier and longer…
