Tokyo reports 40 new coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 262

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Wednesday reported 40 new coronavirus cases, up two from Tuesday and 11 more than last Wednesday.

The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is three, unchanged from Tuesday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 26, down two from Tuesday.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 262. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Hokkaido (29), Osaka (24) and Gunma (24). Two coronavirus-related deaths were reported.

Also today, 41 cases were found at the airport on int'l arrivals... out of max of 3,500 people entering.

There were more cases at the airports among people who supposedly tested negative within 72 hours of flying to Japan than in any prefecture. Same as yesterday (31 at airports) and the day before yesterday (41 at airports).

So much for "opening up and rejoining the world".
