@Pim
I maybe severely dyslexic but numbers and numbers patterns are stings that stand out clearly for me.
Numbers rising all week then suddenly dropping on holidays and weekends seemed very strange unless the virus takes holidays and weekends off.
So I got to comparing charts provided by as many sources I could find and the top numbers often posted on the Tokyo official website and the charts had a tendency not to mach by significant amounts.
But the official sites chart numbers totals seem to match quite closely with most other sources total tests conducted.
So I am very interested in knowing why Toyo Keizai and others have the total at 5,608 Tokyo's official website chart 5,553 ( nearly the same) but the posted number for that day on the official site is 7,877
Other data I have seen are also around the 5,600 total.

@antiquesaving
Thank you. Incredibly hard to understand how this works.

Some more fake news from Tokyo.

One would be brain death to believe the Tokyo numbers in particular.
What happened to the highly contagious strain ? Made it to Tokyo from Osaka
maybe on foot instead of taking the Shinkansen and lost it's ability to infect.
Made it to Hokkaido and Okinawa by air and was very fresh from the short trip
and is wrecking havoc. What a virus.

That's not 61 new hospitalized people today. Not that bad for a city of 30 million....

…@falseflagsteve. The numbers are rubbish everywhere ( as in every country).False positives..too much mass testing. Not enough testing etc etc. Who cares? I agree with you. The only stat that matters is the death toll per million people. That is a relevant number. There is no conspiracy whatsoever.

Did I miss something? No need to be careful. Who has ever claimed that those numbers could be the truth, with or without any discrepancy? lol

Please be careful looking at the Tokyo government officials covid site.
The numbers do not match other sites including the Toyo Keizai covid site above
Tokyo claims 7,877 tests done on May 21 but if you pay attention to the chart below that claim you will see the graph has 3 sections
Click on each section
From top to bottom
964
4289
300
That totals 5,553 tests
There seems to be a bit of a discrepancy of over 2,200 mystery tests on the Tokyo official website.
Other site like Toyo Keizai put the number of tests at 5,608 which is just slightly different form the chart numbers total.

@Pim
If you look at Toyo Keizai covid site you will notice for the 21st 5,600 tests but the Tokyo government site says 7,800 for the same day.
But look at the chart on the Tokyo website and make the calculations
The chart has 3 sections
964+4289+300=5,553 and not 7,877
As I mentioned my daughter's friend works IT in a testing lab and has access to government data and offer labs and university databases for sharing results.
They are all saying 5,600 for the 21st and my daughter's friend cannot figure out where Tokyo get the extra 2,2000.
This was something many noticed yesterday and still they haven't figured it out.
So great mystery.

@HBJ, as a writer and photojournalist (not COVID related, sorry) I appreciate your comment about journalists covering the story of COVID cases without context related to total number of people tested. It's 'fake news' when presented that way. And, really lazy journalism, and disgustingly unprofessional not only of the journalists who do it, but their editors and publishers.
Yuck!

Everything seems well under control with the areas where falls have occurred being where extra measure were implemented. This proves Covid can be beaten with simple precautions, no draconian measures such as lockdowns needed. Vaccines have been deemed useful at preventing the virus and the push by the government to vaccine faster will make things even better.
As I predicted, cases will fall and these are genuine falls, no hidden cases etc by the authorities.

Mobbed everywhere today. I had a medical appointment at 3 today - walked halfway home through Omotesando. A lot of side street restaurants openly serving Alcohol etc. People are tired of the restrictions on life.
Hand the vax process over to Uniqlo or Softbank groups. Let them get on with it. Outsource the whole thing.

“this will all be over soon and normality shall resume to all our lives.”
Oh you mean by next spring after I’ve finally had my two shots. Yep, real soon.

@Antiquesaving - thanks for the reply.
I’m aware of the number of tests, and the general positive rate - the point is that not everyone is. Any news source has a responsibility to put its articles in context with all the facts that are available. This should go for any story, not just these daily COVID reports. The number of daily tests is available (not always for some reason) on external sites, and therefore should be included in these daily articles.
If the number isn’t included, the article is essentially meaningless. The number of positive cases needs the context of the number of tests conducted, otherwise what’s the point? 535 cases from 600 tests is very different from 535 cases from 15,000 tests. In my opinion, a journalist writing a story has a duty to present the story in context.

I generally agree with your posts but there are two things that are bugging me:
you say 10% positive rate, the official page for Tokyo gives 5.4%, declining from 10% a few weeks agohttps://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/
Indicator 4
You say the government decreases the number of tests but 95% of tests are done by private hospitals. So it is these tests that account for most of the drop.Why is the number of these private tests declining?
Either there is a voluntary or involuntary bottleneck in the reporting chain or fewer people are getting tested.
Any idea?

Of course they are lower, didn't you know it is the weekend, covid-19 takes the weekend off or at least it has every weekend out up to now.
Covid will be back on Monday bright and relaxed from his weekend off.

Nice to see numbers tracking lower. Ehime one new case today.
With the vaccine rollout starting to pick up pace (albeit more slowly than everyone would have wanted), Japan has now seen the worst of COVID-19. Recoveries have exceeded new cases for several days in a row now, and that is set to continue.
The light at the end of the tunnel is here.

Again.........61 hospitalized.... in Tokyo.... what??? Really??? And... every one has no access to medical support...how stupid

@HBJ
As we have seen over the past few weeks the positive to test ratio has been regularly around 10% positive.
Approx 10,000 tested got approx 1,000 positive
8,000 tested, 800 positive
6,000 tested got 600 positive
So we can expect that once the number of tests is published sometime in the next 2 days to see just around 6,000 or lower tested.
This has been the pattern and every weekend they lower testing only for the number of tests to go up by mid week and the positive cases do the same.
The idea that some try to say the testing is lower on certain days because fewer people are sick makes no sense unless bthe covid virus for some reason takes every weekend off.
HBJ
These daily reports mean nothing if you don't report the number of tests conducted.
535 positive in Tokyo today - was that from 540 tests, or 15,000?
Surely it's a journalistic standard to provide all the core available facts on a given story.
Auxchanel
Oh great! Numbers will be so low that soon there won’t be any need for the vaccine rollout. Why spend public cash on that when you could be putting that into IOC’s bellies?
Was this their secret strategy all this time?
