My wife and I have it now and it’s far worse than the common cold but still not worthy of all the hysteria it’s been used to cause. Another agenda is being laid out for us to eat up.

My whole family had it.

My wife's parents (in their 70s) got it a month after their booster shot - no/mild symptoms (less than a cold.)

My kids and wife = like a normal cold.

I actually suffered the worst. I had one day with 40degree fever where I had to take a few hours rest from work. By the next day I could work again. The congestion and cough lingered for around a week.

Hardly worth shutting the world down for.

We we’re written off for 2 days then slowly recovering. Mad aches and pains and joint’s feel weak and extremely lethargic with some balance issues. Strong pain killers have been helping. Vaxxed wife was much worse than me both with fever temperature and general symptoms fayi.

@Kobe

I hope you feel better soon!

’go for zero coronavirus?”

China and Hong Kong both tried that and failed. That clearly is a flawed strategy.

only way is to take appropriate countermeasures while trying to live with it and accepting that some will get it.

My whole family had it too. My father-in-law in his 70s also tested positive and had zero symptoms and we were supposed to be worried about him getting it the most. Staying at home for 10 days was the worst part of the whole thing.

Sadly, spreading fear, negativity and misinformation is all they have. Regarding China does anyone take their spin on Covid seriously?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Most of these complainers are those spreaders that never wore a mask from the beginning.

There are a lot less of them than in the beginning though.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

just another glaring reason to once and for all ramp up testing, direct contact testing, and restart a robust contact tracing program. Any predictions?

Complete waste of time and resources. Japan needs to move in the other direction - treat COVID like the endemic disease it is, like the flu. End all pointless border restrictions and open up the country to tourism to aid in economic recovery.

It's much slower overall downtrend than for Delta, ~50k avg per day 1 month ago almost plateu here ~40k so will be interesting if reversing trend in next week or two. More positively though is the death rate is faster decline, ~60 per day avg for whole country, down from ~200 per day 1 month ago.

Vaxxed wife was much worse than me both with fever temperature and general symptoms fyi.

Doubt that.

How is this still a story? No one should care any longer. Walking around outside and seeing nearly every person wearing masks still is absolutely insane. I know not everyone is completely crazy and that some are doing it for allergies. I realize Japan is a rule following country so maybe we just need someone in power to just say, "Enough already. Please stop being so fearful."

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Its nonsensical that people complain about OTHER people voluntarily wearing masks. There are still many that are upset that OTHERS voluntarily accept a free, safe vaccine. Most of these complainers are those spreaders that never wore a mask from the beginning.

Glad to see some normality returning - travel restrictions are being loosened (still some way to go) and people seem to be getting on with life. Lot of masks coming off now too which is nice to see, especially outside and for children (no disrespect of course if people want to wear one)

China's failed strategy resulted in their being the country with the fewest infections per population, and the fewest number of covid related deaths---in the whole, entire, round world.

That is false and you yourself recognized it before, proving yourself mistaken and that you use false information do not work very well to make people trust what you say.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

The reality is that we must all live as normal worldwide. Those aweigh weak immune systems can be vaxxed and boosted and people can take any precautions they decide are appropriate.

Unless a much more deadly variant that evades vaccines appears life will be able to go on almost as before, before returning to how it was before Covid.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Once again…. But for Covid, 30000 people in Japan would not be dead. Millions around the world would not be dead. No this isn’t just some flu and “endemic” refers to individual countries. Covid is still raging around the world . Therefore , it’s a pandemic. Basic science.

Okinawa cases very high again.

What a great failure.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Life can, should, and will return to some sense of or complete normalcy once this PANDEMIC becomes ENDEMIC. But currently, there is an industrialized or 3rd world country the Covid is endemic. And until the minority of highly irresponsible people get with the program, this virus is here to stay . Call me a fear monger all you want . It’s just your stubborn insecurities that keep you , whoever you are that is in the minority of dangerous behaving people. Those without a care for anyone but themselves. Those that think the the elderly, obese , or perhaps those born with diabetes are sacrificial. I’ll repeat this daily if needed , but I certainly hope a deadlier variant of Covid than Omicron doesn’t show up . Not in Japan anyway. In order , Alpha , Delta. and now Omicron ; each variant in Japan has been deadlier than the last. And those who are anti everything as related to Covid particularly vaccines literally have zero credibility and shouldn’t be commenting on issues they have no clue about and / or have spent months spreading patently false information, statements…. False predictions… “we’re all gonna be infected. It can’t be stopped .” Personally, I’m hopeful the world can get through this sooner than later. But it begins with sound minds . Those who accept actual science for what it is without muddying commonly known basic truths. Then and only then can we start to move on. There are those that are just gonna do whatever they want and couldn’t care less about others… Karma will eventually catch up.

If the Japanese people want to feel fully safe, we must go for zero Corona virus.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

@Thomas …Insanely high positivity rate again … just another glaring reason to once and for all ramp up testing, direct contact testing, and restart a robust contact tracing program. Any predictions?

-8 ( +10 / -18 )

You’re spot on Douglas . It doesn’t cost anything to get vaccinated. Cost zero to care about others. But there’s that highly irresponsible minority that deny the reality of the situation and go about life recklessly . There is no fine line between right and wrong on this issue .
