Jeez, very low numbers, I smell an election in the air.

These are good numbers. Forget the number of cases as like so many point out, there is very little testing. Still hospitalizations and deaths can't be denied. The numbers are all way down. I can even get better numbers if we isolate every single individual and close the country down completely but that would be the death of Japan. Covid is something that we have to live with. Let's work at getting the numbers down within the scenario of a fully functioning open society not an artificial one. There is no other practical option lest Japan waits until Covid is eradicated from the earth.

OK....low numbers, now what? Wait until they get lower? How low and for how long? What's next?

In less than 2 weeks the number of covid-19 cases will start to rise again. Unless they work to stamp it out completely, its going to be this roller coaster problem.

Hmmm. Well perhaps it has something to do with the amount of Natural Immunity that people have developed as a result of having had and having recovered from the virus. People go on and on about the number of tests, but fail to consider the fact that an estimated (by scientists) percentage of 40% ~ 60%+ of people are asymptomatic, not even knowing they had been infected and recovered.

Perhaps we'll know more in retrospect.

Monty. Yes I have been keeping records since the pandemic started, and it only refers to Tokyo and Japan as a whole. No, I am not paranoid about it. I keep statistics on many things. It keeps my brain working LOL

Klausdorth why don’t you just go ahead and tell us what your ‘area’ is? My area is central Tokyo and it’s looking quite good here what’s the big secret?

Great good news! Worth of reporting the decreasing number of cases and fatalities. Good news are to be reported, we need to hear good things after so long time of suffering this pandemic.

In your past posts you explained here each single case and also percentage numbers...and whatever...

Do you write down in a small notebook everyday how many cases are in Japan? For each prefecture?

So why do we still have to self isolate when returning to the country. Why aren't the journos asking this question?!?

So we can can have the same numbers and be safe.

The cooperation from citizens following the rules helps a lot such number decrease.

Really? Osaka had 78 cases, the highest in Japan. The national total was 484. I guess you are talking about the US or the UK, when you are saying that it does not look rosy, because you are not about Japan.

I disagree with the comment by 'Reckless' (I think we may not need these daily updates anymore at these low rates.)

Sure, the numbers are a great credit to the prefecture, however, we shouldn't let our guard down just yet.

According to my records, both figures for Tokyo and Japan are the lowest since December last year, and I for one hope they keep getting lower with the vaccination rate continuing to get better also.

Discontinuing reporting these figures will just accelarate them again. Have a look at how the scramble crossing number are now, compared to 2 years ago. Almost back to normal, so to speak.

It will go under 100 for a month but nothing special can happen with these numbers.

This is good news especially as it's two weeks since the state of emergency was lifted and people started going about their lives. Let's keep wearing masks and eventually there will be no more Corona virus.
